  1. Does anybody know what bogie the mk2f runs on is it a B4 or B5 ? Visually is there a great deal of difference? Reason I ask is im thinking of fitting 2 of my Bachmann Mk1 BGs with these mk2f bogies to facilitate the wiring up of some interior lights and obviously the mk2s all have pick ups pre fitted. Not sure whether the BG had the B4 or B5 type on later types such as the 4 special 110mph versions for the WCML 1984 onwards timetable.
  2. These the ScR ones with car headlights coming in 3 weeks???
  3. As long as they dont mess up the tampo printing on the name and put Andrew on it instead of Charles Im sure the royal fsns will snap the model up in droves.
  4. Anybody else noticed an interesting omission from the farish releases? The Mk2f coaches are mainly TSOs no 1st class FOs.....bodes well maybe for future runs in 00 they seem to acknowledge where the demand lies.
  5. I vant recall if any of those blurred or silhouetted images in the past actually correlsted to the model revealed....oh well only 3.5hrs to go.
  6. Maybe extending their Deluxe range to other locos. Reintroducing cab crewmen as std like they used to do.... I fear itll be another let down on the BR inter city blue grey mk2f range where we could see either Anglian Railways versions or fully bulled up Cargo D stock in blue and grey but some new mk2fs are almost nailed on.
  7. Yes pity these announcements which used to happen at weekends drifted into weekdays......yes some will be working at weekends but like a lot of things these days it seems to be geared towards looking after the minorities not majorities......
  8. id like to see a new Class 81 loco but if not then a minor bit of a refresh of the Class 85 would do me with a better lighting suite functionality, maybe metal buffers and perhaps greater cab bulkhead painted detail. its now been 5 years since the new Mk2f coaches were released (10 years since they were announced at around £39.95!) and so its high time we had another batch of blue and grey Inter-City ones which really ought to be in the standard range year round IMHO. Ideally some M prefix midland stock for WCML operations and a corrected branding on the one side of the BSO. I want a few but then dont plan on risking waiting another 5 years........fingers crossed they have heard the calls....... Maybe some white roof Mk1 charter stock? Left field froth over a full 8 coach pack for the Mk2 Manchester Pullman coaches - new tooling in both liveries with DCC fitted. Apparently the full train only has 3 types of carriage so its doable!
  9. To those mocking the announcement of an announcement what you need yo bear in mind is that Bachmann are widening their potential reach because it puts it onto more peoples radars than just one announcement....some people might not know about the offering for days weeks months while us forum followers tend to be fairly quick off the mark on 1st round announcements.....it might tick some off but its doing zero harm.
  10. the Bachmann reps at warley did say they were undoubtedly going to do a rerun of blue and grey inter city coaches. thing is it seems nuts to think years ago if you wanted another one you just went to your local model shop and bought one......they were part of the manufacturers standard catalogue range but now its almost like every livery is to bet treated like its a limited edition grab em while you can approach. lets keep fingers and toes crossed that after 5 years (is it 4 or 4 years?) we get some in the summer announcements. ideally midland region prefixes too not eastern. also was there ever a mk2f mini-buffet or was that a mk2D or E? some blue and grey BR stock was branded "Inter-City ScotRail" too for a short time. id like to see a BSO with the branding in the right position too.
  11. thats what my 87 006 needs......silver painted buffer heads with a splash of black for the grease marks and a dummy screw link hanging the buffer beam which Hornby dont supply in the accesory bag but think ive got a Bachmann 37 as a spare coupling.
  12. And fwiw I think everyone is right on the door colours for 87 006!.....all photos ive now seen on 87 006 with black doors are on the corridor side. The grey doors seem to be on the opposite side....... I think Hornby have gone down the right route on this model.
  13. Moving along from the adamancy over the doors black or grey on 87 006...... The reply from Hornby on sister loco 87 009...... The red stripes are slightly different in reds (i'll say!) due to a "limitation of manufacture". One has been applied in gloss the other in a slight matt. The cab doors stripes are sprayed on while the main body stripe is printed on. ok....so I dont understand it either but apparently thats why the 2 differ. Simon K has offered to let them repaint the cab door stripes but my models already gone back to Kernow now and I have my refund. It would be a gamble to let them repaint a new model anyway unless others have some personal experience of this on this or another model.... My real beef here is that when the Swallow version of 87 010 came out in 2018 they seemed to have got the red stripe spot on there so this just seems very odd to me that the paint processes on 87 009 is ether different or theyve not thought the new process through to ensure uniformity of colour or finish..... What a shame. If i buy a bargain bin one I may take him up on his offer but for now no chance. It should have been right from the factory.......I still put this down to quality control over limitation of manufacture......
  14. rest assured i will post an update here once ive heard back.......
  15. oh man my left knee clicks just getting off the sofa and that guy with the cellar layout looks about 20 yrs older than me so fair play to his back and knees for doing all that tight space crawling around........personally i just couldnt enjoy a layout in those circs.
  16. lovely job on that 87. this is how Hornby should have done it. looking at their inter city Swallow liveried version from the first of the newly tooled batch back in 2018 of 87 010 they got the red stripe right - correct colour right across the whole model. I'm keen to hear from Simon this week as I think when he gets to see the artwork and approval sample that got signed off he might well create a Kohler sized hole in the roof at Hornby HQ. If its the correct consistent red across the artwork and the factory have done it wrong then its tin hat time for somebody but at least a local Kent roofing company will have a high profile roofing job on the books....... wonder how many they produced of 009?
  17. the triple wagon (and the coach packs too) from Accura are incredible value and with high fidelity......yes Hornby and others should look at triple ir quad packs with different numbers. they need to think of the more contempoary buyer/modeller. i feel they are sometimes stuck in the 70s/80s yellow pages era where a little lad gets enough pocket money every week to save up and buy a solo wagon and be thrilled to plonk it on his payout. the worlds moved on. I know Bachmann have done multi packs but i think they are largely for commissions?
  18. well i am allowing either retailer or H or put it right and if they cant ill get my £188 back then if these arent recalled ill go to the bargain bin myself maybe pick one up again for £100 or so but i aint paying top money for one like this. it would need heavy weathering to hide this degree of error and i rather prefer the cleaner look of model loco.
  19. simon is going to check the artwork sample on Monday and get back to me. somebodys legs needs smacking thats all I can say.
  20. heres mine.....its gone back today and ive also written to Simon to bring it his attention. its not acceptable on a £200 model. im hoping its only affected a small batch and that i can get a replacement from a good run.
  21. Oh dear. 87009 no. 2 arrived today and the paintwork is awful. The lower grey is alnost an off white not light the light stone colour and im sure the first delivery was perfect on that score (wish i kept it now) but worse still is that the red stripe on all 4 x cab doors is different to the main red stripes along the bodyside which are almost a maroon than a red....itll have to go back. Hooefully 3rd time ill get lucky. What a shame......
  22. I think all lights work off the same dimmer cv. Is there anything in the leaflet on cv's?
  23. Btw there is nothing in the instructions to say what the dcc functions are but presumably its only going to be F0 for directional lights and F1 for cab lights?
  24. Further feedback. Before I sent it back to KMRC the lower colour of executive light grey on 87 009 is really good to my eyes in the flesh. In the catalogue it looks more like their old almost yellowie colour so no concerns there and I am totally happy with the livery for 87006 - the black vs grey argument will probably rumble on but to me from all the images I have seen Hornby have got it right ( I wonder what the artwork revision was that delayed the decorated sample being shown at the same time as 87009? - we maynever know but I might ask Simon at the next show just out of interest). Not sure yet if the model has cab lights in Night mode as I have only run 87006 in on DC but again I think Hornby have got the LED colour bang on too - very in line with the period so more warmish white. Moving onto decoder space....reading both the new pamplet vs the original one that came with the first 2 models there is a relocation of the socket for these 21 pin versions. the loco drawing shows loads of space under the PCB for a decoder and this is where it lives on the new version so quite why they didnt use this space from the first model onwards is utterly beyond me having heard many people struggle to get bodies back on with the decoder fitted on top of the PCB. I havent removed the body yet for a closer look........
