  1. Does that footpath under the railway have a name? You could use that if it is not too specific. You could use Eastcombe (there is Eastcombe Avenue and the Eastcombe estate not far from the junction.) Or, nearer Woolwich Dockyard, what about Maryon? Or if you want a neutral name, how about Park Terrace?
  2. Mike invited his mother over for dinner. During the course of the meal, Mike’s mother couldn’t help but notice how beautiful Mike’s housemate Jennifer was. She had long been suspicious of the ‘platonic’ relationship between Mike and Jennifer, and this had only made her more curious. Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Mike and Jennifer than met the eye. Reading his mother’s thoughts, Mike volunteered, “I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you Jennifer and I are just housemates.” About a week later, Jennifer came to Mike saying, “Ever since your mother came to dinner, I’ve been unable to find that beautiful silver ladle. You don’t suppose she took it, do you?” Mike said, “Well, I doubt it, but I’ll send her an e-mail just to be sure.” So he sat down and sent her a message: “Dear Mum, I’m not saying that you did take the ladle from the house, and I’m not saying that you did not take it. But the fact remains that it has been missing ever since you were here for dinner. Love, Mike” Several days later, Mike received an email back from his mother that read: “Dear Mike, I’m not saying that you do sleep with Jennifer, I’m not saying that you do not sleep with her. But the fact remains that if Jennifer was sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the ladle by now. Love, Mum”
  3. Have there been any incidents of cable theft? I assume switching on the juice will put an end to that.
  4. There I was sitting at the bar staring at my drink when a large, trouble-making biker steps up next to me, grabs my drink and gulps it down in one swig. "Well, whatcha' gonna do about it?" he says, menacingly, as I burst into tears. "Come on, man," the biker says, "I didn't think you'd CRY. I can`t stand to see a man crying." "This is the worst day of my life," I say. "I'm a complete failure. I was late to a meeting and my boss fired me. When I went to the parking lot, I found my car had been stolen and I don't have any insurance. I left my wallet in the cab I took home. I found my wife with another man and then my dog bit me." "So I came to this bar to work up the courage to put an end to it all, I buy a drink, I drop a capsule in and sit here watching the poison dissolve; then you show up and drink the whole thing! But enough about me, how's your day going?"
  5. As D9020 Nimbus says, "printers's". It is an error, but the society does not accept responsibility for errors, so I was just asking who does accept responsibility for this one.
  6. I don't know whether to post this here, or in the "Things that make you" thread. On page 3, to the left of the Contents, there is a sentence that goes: "The society does not accept liability for omissions, clerical or printers's errors ...". So who does accept liability for that one?
  7. Why can't an 8-pin (or even a 6-pin) socket be built into the underside of the chassis? Then swapping the blanking plug for a decoder should be easy.
  8. I see their site offers to download Adobe Acrobat 7.0 for you. This is at least four full versions behind (I am using version 11.0.16).
  9. So what did he hitt wasn't the knitting, as he would have hit that as he went over the first track, so it must have been some other wire, such as a telephone wire. I would have thought he reversed at the end to try to get the wire clear of his tipping mechanism. Mind you, the best way to get the wire clear of the tipping mechanism is not to get it in there in the first place.
  10. Or you could try more practical gauge-scale combinations, like EM or OO. Yes, they are a tad undersized, ... but you shouldn't be fussed about that ...
  11. Is this a good slug? You can see more of this on Wikipedia.
  12. Suggestion: use square brackets rather than round parentheses, i.e. B] instead of B).
  13. They did Havergal Brian's Gothic Symphony at the Proms some years ago. It was exceedingly boring. So now we all know why he turns up very occasionally. Yes. I heard some on Radio 3 a few years ago. Another British composer is Roxana Panufnik, the daughter of Polish/English composer Andrzej Panufnik. And I mustn't forget Rhian Samuel (mainly because she's my cousin!)
  14. Does chilli powder put the slugs and snails off? Using it is OK as the birds aren't affected by it.
  15. Don't I know it! That's why I'm replacing all the trackwork.
  16. I have a few questions Will the track be suitable for outside use in the southern UK? Can I get a discount for buying in bulk (100 yards or more)? Are you thinking of doing a scissors crossover at some time? I am thinking of sorting out my garden railway, which will involve replacing all of the trackwork.
  17. What was that about every bridge should have a bus on it?
  18. Don't apologise. That is a superb picture, in spite of its apparent shortcomings.
  19. Typical spell-check cock-up.
  20. In honour of the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, the Bard of Avon. Sonnet CLV I must complain, my lad. I think I know A living parrot from a bird that's dead, Like this one, bought not half an hour ago, Which failed to move; the reason was, you said, The mere fatigue of a protracted squawk. I say it's stiff, not pining for the firth. And if thou hadst not nail'd it to the balk Full fathom one it would repose in earth. Norweyan Blues, thou say'st, stun easily, But this one is extinct; it is no more; It's ceased to be, forever not to be. To meet its Maker it is gone before. Bereft of life, alas, it rests in peace. This popinjay hath suffered its decease.
  21. The more I read about Dapol and people's problems with them, the more I think they are on the slippery slope to going out of business. Don't quote me on this, as I am probably very wrong (and I certainly hope I am). But, unless things improve, and quickly, ...
  22. I would expect that people buying H&P wagons would need more than one, so it would be nice to see sets of 10 or more differently-numbered wagons being offered.
  23. If someone is going to make people like this I fancy a set of 250 (or more), for use as commuters on my BR(S) EMUs.
  24. It's always nice to see pictures of Lewisham station and environs, and yours are no exception. They also go to show why we modellers need models of Networkers and Electrostars.
