  1. You've got to C sharp or you'll B flat.
  2. Interesting to see the Stirling single in the background.
  3. If you want starlings you should go to my local Sainsburys' car park. It is overflowing with crows and starlings.
  4. I took the advice that has been given on here and went to my local model shop, rather than ordering from Hattons. I was extremely pleased to notice that what I bought cost a bit less than it would have done if I had bought from Hattons, and I got it immediately rather than having to wait for it to be delivered by Yodel. Sidcup 1, Liverpool 0.
  5. In that case, instead of the P class, how about an H 0-4-4T in the same very attractive pre-grouping livery?
  6. You may have a point, there. If the speakers are turned up loud I can't understand what is being said, because I hear the same thing from many speakers "at once". But the speed of sound is such that the sound from further speakers arrives later than the sound from nearer speakers, resulting in a dissonant mush of unintelligible sounds. With a lower volume, I won't hear the message from the further speakers, meaning that the message will be more intelligible.
  7. You'd think that on each sprue of four, one would be a ladies' bike.
  8. Apply rule 1: It's my layout and I'll run what I like. Alternatively, run a preserved steam special.
  9. I'm a bit worried about the paragraph about Harrison-Brown Models at the top right of page 16. I looked at their web site and it seems that all their resin EMUs are OO, and I couldn't find any in N. Unless, of course, their web site needs updating.
  10. Or as the exasperated girlfriend might have said, "What now, my love?"
  11. Probably to move the locomotive or wagons away from the track it's just come off, to prevent it fouling the point up ahead.
  12. There is more info on the crash here. The car was carrying 4 school students; those that died were 16 and 19 years old.
  13. Is it worth it? Wait for Bachmann to bring out a 54xx in due course. Having said that, we are still in "due course" waiting for them to bring out a 4BEP and a 2HAP.
  14. In my not so humble opinion, I think the pronunciation of St Mary Axe as "Simmery Axe" is an affectation. Wikipedia says
  15. One thing to remember: once something has been committed to print it is impossible to correct it; issuing corrections on slips to be stuck into those printed works is no guarantee that your copy will have been corrected. There are a lot of errors in Grove. The reference for Glière's having no connection with Belgium is given as Stanley D. Krebs: Soviet Composers and the Development of Soviet Music, London, 1970, so you'd be better checking that out.
  16. Sorry about this, Bernard, but he has no known connection with Belgium. Wikipedia says My favourite composition of his is the concerto for coloratura soprano and orchestra in F minor, Op. 82, that he wrote in 1943.
  17. Well, there was Eugène Ysaÿe, who wrote some fantastic solo-violin pieces.
  18. I've heard this piece described as a couple of orgasms described in music. Seems reasonable to me.
  19. Wind the volume up and to hell with the neighbours. That is one lovely piece.
  20. It's not supposed to be For He's a Jolly Good Fellow, but Marlbrouck s'en va-t-en Guerre (Marlborough is going to war).
  21. Disagree. You don't look stoopid.
  22. I agree wholeheartedly with this. Stress is not good for you, and can lead to early death. Model railways help alleviate stress, thereby preventing early death, and they allow you to have fun at the same time.
