  1. As the famous lyricist Flavor Flav once remarked 'his story, not history. History is a written documentation of past events, written from the biased postulations of people who remembered the event, it tends to be the victors as the losers don't always get a voice.
  2. Get with the times Daddio, it's Bee Gees download now. Maybe you could programme a function file to play "Ah ah ah ah, stayin alive, stayin alive" whenever the power is from the capacitor.
  3. Depends what it's market wants - keeping with the same 8 pin interface means it has standardised all it's add on components it sells TTS decoders and general decoders plus the hardware to use them. If the vast majority of Hornby buyers are not interested in all the extra functionality then it doesn't need to alter it's interface and it really only benefits diesel or electric locomotives which have lots more lights and functions to operate, a steam loco is quite simple in comparison when it comes to functions. That the other companies have moved towards ever more complicated interfaces is more about the demands of buyers of their locomotives wanting more horns and lights (whistles and bells) on their models.
  4. They've always been like that, but what has changed is the RB and Honda have finally got the engine delivering the power it was capable of, Mercedes probably caught out and really focussed on 2022 not 2021 expecting a solid 2021 and not a real fight with Red Bull. Given all the money RB have thrown at the car, this was the final chance for payback on the current specification and went for it knowing Mercedes were looking a year ahead as nothing much was meant to change this season. Agree it is Max's season unless there is a sudden engine issue allowing Hamilton to make up the deficit, interesting how one small mistake with a switch all those races ago has probably delivered this comfortable gap now for RB. If Hamilton had come in second then Verstappen would only now just be overtaking him in the championship. Don't think heads have been as clear this year in Mercedes, lots of mistakes whereas RB look to be completely in tune.
  5. I would say Bottas is now in it for himself not the team, time and again since losing his contract he has shown a negative side when asked to do things by the team. Now without knowing what has gone on within the team it hard to judge whether he is doing this out of spite or because perhaps the team have wronged him in some manner this season and he's had enough but two sets of softs to get the fastest lap, overtaking Verstappen and then letting him back past when he was meant to be getting the fastest lap, squeezing Hamilton when meant to be blocking Verstappen, not to mention antics in other races and the general anonymous drives he has had when not right at the front.
  6. Any worse than taking a blowtorch to your railway to burn teddy bear fur?
  7. The young lady on the hike to Cape Wrath is clearly funded, she has patrons and at least some of the food had been provided by the company that produces it (albeit for a different video series about canoeing). But on the other hand, if the result is watchable content I don't mind, she clearly has good skills, she understands hiking and is relatable. Influencing is nothing new, it's just got easy as a result of social media for people without access to large amounts of funds or can control the media, which means all sorts of crackpots can spout all kinds of nonsense now and get a global audience which then attracts funds to do more of the same.
  8. In some sense yes, but there are people out there doing good content which is 'influencing' but also well produced. Mrs Woodenhead and I are currently watching a channel on YouTube about solo hiking, young lady walking 230 miles on the Cape Wrath trail from Fort William to Cape Wrath. There is definitely influencing going on, the food, the tent, the clothing etc but it's good stuff and she is doing the walk single handed, camping out at night, getting lost, getting wet. It really all depends on the type of 'influencer' you watch or are drawn to and many are drawn to Sam.
  9. Panniers, small Prairies, large Prairies, Dean Goods, Collett Goods, Bulldogs(??) & Moguls in GWR days Standard 3MT 2-6-2T, Class 22, Class 35 and DMUs in later times.
  10. Others will know the specifics, but essentially sound = chips/speakers fitted to your loco. In DC the loco will still need to be chipped but then programmed to also work on DC which is how the Bachmann & Farish locos work sound on DCC - the chip controls the DC supply to the loco so that you can keep the controller sending enough power to make the sound work without it being enough to engage any motion. For me in N gauge I was typically paying £105 per loco for a sound chip loaded with a sound file and then on top of that there is the cost of the speaker, the cost of which depends how good you want your solution to be. Wiring in 00 will be easier than N gauge and OO has been more amenable to chipping be it straight wiring or pins for a long time, only really some of the earlier split chassis stuff that causes a challenge.
  11. I am guessing it is to stop all the cars outside of the top 10 diving into the pits on the final lap with least fuel and all going hell for leather against one another to put in a qualifying lap which potentially could risk a collision with the leaders or cause the race to end under yellow flags. The top 10 are generally conserving their cars by the end of the race unless a car has a pit stop gap to the next car they can utilise to gain some new rubber.
  12. Ah ha - ex SNCF 16t Minerals - how interesting https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brsncfmineral
  13. What mineral wagons are they - the look to be single side doors but longer than a 16t mineral
  14. I actually want to run mine but the current layout is a passenger terminus so not much call for coal trains. But things may change.
  15. Stop it, you’re making me feel guilty for all those mineral wagons and windcutters I have in my unused stock box
  16. Still at it and I caught the new signal on green
  17. the 319 is unique so far to N, they are doing the 69 in both scales.
  18. It's this: HO Walthers MAINT-OF-WAY Hart Gondola MW #206 Work Train Kit Word of warning, that may not be the correctest description, but it brings up the item on google.
  19. Found this, which looks like your car, but they don't know it's provenance either: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ho-scale-vintage-true-scale-509442910
