  1. Picked up my TEA's from Mike & the team at Warley today and took a close look at the new MMA/JNA. They are stunning. A large order will be going in for the DB liveried ones.
  2. Hatton's stand showing their new Class 66. And some Dapol livery samples. Got my name down for that TPE Class 68.
  3. Glad I went. First visit was in 2016 and I gave a miss last year. I think I'll put Warley in the once every 5 years or so category from now. For me it's just too big, too far and too expensive a round trip to go every year. Where I am I have the truly excellent Wigan show in October and Manchester next weekend which are both 'big' but without the drama of getting to the NEC. Didn't have a lot of tie layout watching and nothing really grabbed me -apart from Liverpool Lime Street that I've seen twice before. The 5 inch stuff was all new to me. Anyone care to lend me £6k for this Duchess Or I would settle for the 37 The 'Hand of God' Some nice WW1 layouts, Up the Hill being one. Journey's End was most amusing and Hawes Junction was good to see. Got the 17:09 direct train from NEC back to Flint, nipped into the Chinese for a takeaway and now resting my weary feet before an early night.
  4. Urgh. Can't believe I got up at 05:20 this morning just for a model railway show Just having a cuppa then off to catch the train. See you later folks !
  5. That will help with some additional seating for when the old legs get tired
  6. Good idea about having a shop & drop bag store. I assume it is being fully manned and is secure with a cloakroom type ticket system to check stuff in and out. Don't fancy leaving any goodies there unattended
  7. I got my renewal letter through today. It says there will be an 'n' scale model announced in the next edition of Bachmann Times. Doesn't say if a loco or wagon. I read from this that there will be no OO offering.
  8. The passenger and guards sections are individually controlled (F4 and F5 I think from memory) Can't do pics as mine are all packed away awaiting for the layout to one day be built.
  9. Delighted with this announcement even if too early for my era. I've 6 of the first batch of Heljan 86's and they are great locos, just badly let down by the looks. Hopefully there will be sufficient demand for later class 86's that will allow me to upgrade.
  10. Oh yes, a discounted Twin Pack would be nice. You listening Dave
  11. Will be having some of these for sure
  12. I have 39-420z Modelzone which is numbered 80305 and 39-435 which is numbered 80301. I could be wrong on this, but coming late to the model railway scene, and buying these second hand, I just assumed that one (435) was a general release of a previously issued Modelzone exclusive. A bit like when they did the Sealink Mk1 SK last year as a general release, having previously done the collectors club twin pack. Wasn't aware of 39-422. That's another one I'll need to track down for my Royal Mail fleet.
  13. Northern Branded & Unbranded
  14. They should have them, as it's in most stockists. I picked mine up on Thursday from Trident Trains. Just the ScotRail DBSO's that have still to make an appearance. Opened up my collection to examine/test them all this morning. They are a superb rake of coaches.
  15. I dunno. You wait 5 Years and then they all come at once ! A rake of 10 Inter City and 10 + DBSO Blue/Grey along with the 4 POT TPO's. The wife's out getting her hair done so I've managed to smuggle them into the house without difficulty. The hard part will be explaining that Christmas is now cancelled due to lack of funds. The DBSO is a work of pure beauty and I can't wait for the ScotRail ones to arrive.
  16. Picked up my three red ones (one of each) this afternoon that had been on pre-order since the first announcement. In my view, even as a stand alone model, the finish of the yellow line just looks a bit poor and not as clean/sharp as normal Bachmann printing. Like others, I'm not happy that the livery has been changed from previous releases, especially on something that was so iconic, bright and vivid on the network at the time and was usually kept pristine. Not impressed with the Bachmann statement either that it was in response to customer feedback. Really! However, like others have said, the option is to go without and I've been waiting for these to appear for nigh on 2 years. My skill set isn't there to repaint /re-line and they cost enough without paying for someone to repaint them so, I'll just have to live with it and hope it doesn't grate on me too much every time I run my postal. Perhaps I should run it as per prototype, in the middle of the night sitting with the lights off in the dark and then I won't notice the colour so much
  17. I've got a pair already and love them. The 'Ayr' plough as I was based there and an Eastfield one to keep it company. Great little models.
  18. Just in time for Model Rail Scotland
  19. Trident Trains have been in touch and my order for a rake in both Blue Grey and Inter City are all now in stock awaiting collection. Just the ScotRail DBSO awaited to complete my order.
  20. Agree. Ordered mine from Trident Trains and got a message today that it arrived today. Will be calling by to collect tomorrow.
  21. A great show with all the layouts on display worthy of a watch. 15 layouts - 6 scales. Great stuff. Grange Lane in O guage was truly superb. The ooperator was saying it started with the purchase of the Dapol 08 and needing something to run it on I recall having the same worrying thoughts when Dapol brought out their model for just £189. Tanners Hill in N absolutely capyured the feel of 3rd rail NSE. Arnold Lane and Arley Dale, both OO guage were others that I really enyoyed.
  22. A blast from the past. I was the roster clerk at Ayr TMD back then.
  23. Hornby have imposed a 10% maximum discount. And I missed the boat on buying these http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/137631-Hornby-discount-limits/
  24. Really like the look of these now I've read the reviews, these posts and seen some in the flesh. Thinking of a Blue/Grey set and spent the day googling but am non the wiser as to what would constitute a typical rake and in what formation? From what I gather, the Buffet is the current preserved version so wouldn't suit a 1980's rake. I could use a Mk1 or Mk 3 but would then need to add lights etc. Strange that the inter city buffet will also be CDL fitted, when the other coaches aren't. If the coaches are in Exec livery, then will there really be a market for a future Swallow branded livery?. I'm guessing Virgin might be next and possibly some DRS / Anglia appearing as Collectors Club models.
