Picked up my ticket for the show when I was at Warley. Will be in the queue on the Friday morning

Hi, me again with your annual reminder that the Lidl cabinets will be in store from 15th December. Price held from last year at £49.99.

Compared to most modellers, I'm fortunate to have an abundance of model shops within an hours drive of home. I suppose my closest is Chester Model Centre (6 miles) and while I have been there, I've not been for a few years as the last time they had cut back on their model railways in favour of kits and stuff. I've walked past several times now when in Chester without venturing in. Rhuddlan Models and Hippo Toys (Colwyn Bay) are local along with a place in Rhyl, but I now drive over the bridge to Widnes Model Centre. £4 toll fee is equivalent to what I'd pay for postage. There's another place in Widnes I've been but I wouldn't call it a model shop. It's just a counter attached to a warehouse! Also used to visit Trident Trains a lot when I was working in Crewe. That would leave Haslington Models just outside Crewe as the only local (to work) shop that I've not visited.

Thank goodness!. Those cliches are rapidly overtaking the bus on the bridge followed by a wedding/funeral at any church or a new one I've noticed since Peco released the figures, a cricket game taking place!.

The scanner was in the porch way as you entered the building, having got off the bus, top left of your picture.

We went through a walk through scanner at the bus entrance from the car park.

A good day and the wider aisles helped as it didn't seem crowded. Quietened down a lot by 4pm so I actually got to see quite a few of the layouts, which was actually my agenda plan for tomorrow. Spent a hefty whack picking up a Bratchells Class 318 kit, yet another 156 from Charlie at Realtrack and another Arriva 150 DCC fitted dmu from the Bachmann returns stand along with some TEA wagons from Revolution.

I guess it also rules out 90 024 in Malcolm livery ever making an appearance, unless the likes of Rails or Kernow do a commission.

Just seen some livery designs on Facebook. Guessing they've been sneakily leaked given there is nothing on here. But, it answers the questions I was about to ask them at Warley. I was getting nowhere with the subtle comments. I now find a very clear and explicit "Right, I'll watch the bags while you go and pay the man" has a better success ratio

Postie has just delivered my exhibition programme and I've just booked a hotel for Saturday so that I can now attend both days. At least I can make it a more relaxed visit now spread over the 2 days rather than trying to cram everything in. See you all there!

Has anyone received their Programme yet?. Website said would be despatched around about the 13th but not got mine yet Had originally booked the train, as I can get direct to the NEC from Flint and TfW were doing an over 50's return for £29. Getting there is no problem. Last year though there was a scrum to get on the train from NEC but I eventually got a seat by New St but the train was standing room up to Shrewsbury. With the industrial action I've decided to drive which will actually save me a good 90 mins each way give or take. Surprisingly, I get a full refund from TfW. Now even contemplating on staying over and going both days. Too late to get an advanced 2 day ticket etc but the last few times I've gone to Warley I missed so much, that I'm thinking doing the 2 days is the way to see it all.

Think there's a few people dumping the old ones for the new. All my stuff is packed away but I'll no doubt be doing the same at some point. My observation was that the new 2019 release had an excellent colour match to the earlier releases.

Sir Walter Scott?. I had a good look at that as it was a great price, but left it as I have more than enough 47/7's. From the same trader I got a Bachmann DCC fitted Class 158 in Northern Rail purple for £64, less than half of what they go for on eBay. Wish I'd had a closer look at the Dapol stand although I did fleetingly consider a rash purchase of an O gauge shunter for £150. The Fredstone Lane layout also had me wondering just how much longer trains I could run if I switched to N gauge

My first visit to the Alsager show and a pleasant few hours spent this morning. Good selection of layouts. The Wrexham show is really just one of Barry Stockton's train fairs but with about 6 - 8 small layouts on display. I go each year as it's on my doorstep, but I'm usually in & out in an hour and that's with wandering round the hall 2 or 3 times. I wouldn't travel any distance to it, as it's not really a 'show' as such and the toy fair is also on the small side compared to his other shows. Wife's working tomorrow so I can pop over to the show without getting earache for going off to a show, with having Wrexham show next weekend followed by Warley the week after Bit of a busman's holiday as I work in Crewe during the week. Will need to remember to head to Bentley rather than being on auto-pilot and heading to my office

Exactly that! Many thanks @adb968008 for posting this which I've bookmarked. Used to have a never ending production line of kits as a lad but it's 35 years since I last did any modelling. Was terrified of ruining an expensive loco but now I've seen what's involved, you've inspired me to give it a go. I'd thought glue would be better than tape but now I've seen the video, I'll be using tape. I failed my maths exams but finally, for the first time in my 52 years, I now know what use I'll get from a set square Quick question, once finished, do you varnish the model to protect the transfers or not?. I'm leaning towards it being unnecessary unless the loco was going to be frequently handled. From what I've seen though online, most of the pro modellers always then finish with varnish.

My rake of DB Cargo wagons arrived today all present and correct. Won't have the opportunity to get a close look at them until Sunday though but even in their boxes they look superb.
