  1. The same unit arriving at Swansea Landore for repainting last December, with one of Allelys finest steering the trailer.
  2. Are you me? 35 years away from the hobby and living in North Wales (Buckley - but currently on secondment in Swansea) Been dabling for a few years now but boy, has the world moved on since the 1980's !
  3. So looking forward to the Northern units
  4. Took a pic of their stand last year for reference, as I'll be looking for baseboards at some point.
  5. On show on the Heljan stand at Glasgow this weekend. Only a crummy phone shot taken through a glass cabinet, but good to see they're making progress.
  6. Guess it would be inappropriate to ask if it's an 8 or 21 pin chip Pass on my best wishes, hope she's on the mend soon
  7. A heads up re parking. Last few years I've parked at 175 Elliot Street car park. It's £2.50 all day and about a 10 minute walk to the hall (although long enough to have got drowned in yesterdays weather). This year I was staying at the Campanile hotel on Thursday night right next to the Hydro, so just a quick 5 minutes dash to the hall (although still got soaked!)
  8. 27104 is top left, with 033 Haymarket top right, 030 Eastfield bottom left and 029 Inverness bottom right. 29's all withdrawn before I got into railways, although my first ever loco as a kid was the old Hornby version. I'm currently down in Swansea on a six month assignment and most of my stock is packed away following an aborted house move that fell through in December. Will be back home in the summer and now that we're staying put, I have permission to knock the wall down dividing the two single bedrooms into a large railway room. Got plenty of inspiration yesterday as to what I want to build as a proper continuous run layout. Needless to say it will have a very Scottish feel to it
  9. I actually decided that with other priorities looming, I would hold off buying the new batch of Class 27's and reckoned that if I ever did need some more, then there's always the secondary market. So I went to Model Rail Scotland yesterday > Where Heljan had their own stand > with lots of these at an attractive show price of £109 > and a further little discount offered if I bought the four I was looking at > So .... I succumbed Brings my Heljan collection up to 22 x Class 26's and 10 x Class 27's One can never have too many McRats
  10. Had a great time, with some really great layouts on display in all scales. Went in with the advanced ticket holders at 10am and left just on 5pm, having been round the hall several times. Just about to sit down and read the programme ... and find out all what I missed Got my Tunnocks containers but by the time I went back to R3 Resprays they had sold out of their Irn Bru ones. Should have got them when I saw them. The containers were destined to be my only purchase but then I saw the Heljan stand, "Oh Look, new Class 27's"
  11. You have to contact the club and they will re-register / set you up on their new website. I had to do this when I re-newed my membership last month. Logged in with no problems while still on the phone to them.
  12. Avanti are auctioning off 'the very first' Hornby Avanti liveried Pendolino for charity: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193321784989
  13. I've held off buying so far but will see if theres any at Model Rail Scotland where no doubt I'll succumb.
  14. Fixed that for you Roll on Glasgow !
  15. In the same boat. I had 10 of the class 26's when the did the new batch a couple of years ago. Prior to them being released they were going for silly money on eBay so I got one of each and 3 of the coal sector. Want a few of these 27's but will need to pick up piecemeal over the year as got to many other commitments right now.
  16. Really hope this project goes ahead. Sold my Hornby Battle of Britain livery a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of the Cavalex models being released. Will be after said Battle of Britain and For the Fallen as display models and the Flying Scotsman and full take of Mk4 to run. Was told at Warley that the new liveries would be on the website early December. Been checking frequently but not listed yet. So if there are others like me wanting these special liveries, then that's a lot of people who are interested in buying models but have not been able to order/express interest on the website yet.
  17. Sure. What scale bread and do you want the milk analogue or DCC ?
  18. They had about half a dozen or so when I was there last night. At a gondola end next to the checkouts and I saw it and for that price, well, crazy to pass up on it. Always handy to have a cheapo controller if nothing else. This was the big Asda superstore in Swansea. Dare say other stores will be offloading their Xmas stock. I only went in for bread and milk
  19. I started a temporary secondment yesterday in Swansea and have rented a flat for 6 months. Went to Asda this evening to stock up on essentials and got myself the Hornby Freightmaster set for £18.75 So in less than 24 hours in my new abode I have a fully working model railway Actually, not as daft a purchase as it seems as it allows me to have a test track down here for any locos I purchase while I'm living away from home.
  20. Wow, what a list. Was desperate for Bachmann to do the Malcolm class 90, but I see Hornby are doing it. They're also doing the Malcolm 66's, again, I'd have preferred Bachmann or even Hattons. The Scottish Azuma would appeal but only if it was the full 9 cars. Some range though and I no doubt shall be purchasing a fair few items.
  21. I recall back in the 80's or early 90's there was a model of Queen Street on the exhibition circuit. Bishopton Club springs to mind from some dark recess of my brain. It had the start of the roof on each side but was then just the girders to allow access/viewing. Definitely recall seeing it a few times, probably at Model Rail Scotland and or Ayr, Paisley or Cathcart shows that I used to go to with my Dad.
