  1. The last car of 143 621 ( 55687) has just left Landore less than 10 minutes ago on its final journey to the scrap-man. This week saw 143 620, 611 & 621 go for scrap. I believe these are the first 143's to be scrapped other than a couple that were fire damaged while in service. So I now need a GWR green 143 that I can de-brand
  2. 37 175 & 37 099 at Landore tonight with the Network Rail NMT, with the 37's deputising for the Class 43's.
  3. Sure I read somewhere that tomorrow (31st Dec) is the last order day for the OO IPA's, but can't find where I read that Anyone know for sure?. I'm after a rake but am a bit skint this month with Xmas etc.
  4. Agreed!. Preferably with Ayr as one of the destination blinds
  5. Having seen the original post, I put a question up on a railway Facebook page I'm a member of, asking if anyone knew about it or it's current status. I got a reply from the Vice Chairman of the group: So, it all sounds promising
  6. Interesting. Hadn't known about these plans to re-open the tunnel until I saw your post. Would like to see it succeed.
  7. GWR have now withdrawn their Class 143 fleet (although some were still running about at the weekend). Units 143 611, 620 & 621 are now stored at Swansea Landore before they head off to SIMS Newport in the New Year to meet their maker. Now I'll have to order a GWR Green one from Charlie
  8. Took delivery of 3 Class 142's today (at 1:1 scale) TfW are withdrawing their entire Class 142 fleet at the end of this month, and they are all heading to SIMS Newport for scrapping. The TfW Class 143 fleet will be in service for a bit longer, lets say Easter 2021, while the Class 769's get bedded in on the Rhymney Valley line. So, this morning 143 002, 073 & 074 came to Landore for storage before they head off to meet their maker.
  9. Fingers crossed. Can't wait for the exhibitions to get back on again.
  10. DMSL 55775 (142 079) departed Swansea Landore this afternoon en-route to the razor blade factory. The DMS (55729) along with 142 012 will be joining it tomorrow.
  11. There's a Facebook group for the Works. https://www.facebook.com/groups/780881155293782
  12. 2 Class 800's passing PT 3145 PT 3147 outside Landore depot on the run in to Swansea.
  13. Stunning images. Look forward to following this thread.
  14. Agree 100%. Stunning pics. Off to look at the layout thread now!
  15. Been there. Here's my pic of Duchess of Sutherland leaving Carlisle
  16. I've just had one of those Colas 70's in for repair at Landore this week. First time I've seen one up close. Pretty impressive piece of kit.
  17. LOL. If we're doing wish lists, then we need a Class 175 in Arriva & TfW liveries.
  18. Gutted I missed this. I live in Buckley but I'm on an assignment down in Swansea just now. Only ever seen 709 from afar, as I flew down the M6 and saw it sitting at Bescot.
  19. Looks fab. I've been looking at Rainbow Railways website since Model Rail Scotland, as having seen their Northern Liveried 156, I walked around the hall another time before deciding to go back and buy it, where needless to say it had been sold. I see they also have the Strathclyde Orange PTE listed. Not sure whether to take the plunge or wait for the official RealTrack release, as from the original literature, Strathclyde was always on the cards to be released.
  20. Order placed last night at the early bird price for 8 of these twin packs. With home being just a few miles from Chirk as the crow flies and now temporarily staying just down the road from Baglan yard, then these are a must have. They will go nicely with either my Hornby 60 087 CLIC Sargent or my Bachmann Colas 70 805, where the respective locos on the 2 occasions I've actually photographed the Kronospan logs. 60 087, Wrexham, 23/07/15 70 805, Chester, 30/09/15
  21. Sad to hear this but appreciate it's the right call to make. I just moved to Swansea earlier this year on a temporary secondment and was looking to join the club, just as the lockdown was announced. Was looking forward to the show and doubt I'll still be in Swansea come next year.
  22. As well as Northern, would be good to see some Arriva/TfW units in this final branding.
  23. With the Rhymney Valley services having come to an end, 37 418 and 37 421 are now in storage at Landore along with 10 x Mk2s. Today saw 418 fired up as part of it's weekly exam And 421 arriving light engine from Derby. Locos & coaches being kept in readiness should they be required back in service for TfW, although in the present climate, this is unlikely.
  24. Had 3 different spells at Ayr TMD at the start of my career, from YTS kid, then GPR Technical Clerk and finally Chief Clerk within the space of 5 years. So I ended up being in charge of the very people who had bossed me around when I was the YTS kid
