  1. Hmm, I think I was there - I have no recollection of going but found these negatives a while back.
  2. I remembered I'd not bought Christmas cards for the important people - ordered Saturday, arrived this morning. So certainly some parts of the service are running very well.
  3. I spotted this yesterday - I believe it means that the site is too busy for server spec assigned to it - so the site owner needs to upgrade it (with the associated costs). I think once it comes back online I need to send a donation to help with the costs as it's a superb site.
  4. It says with valvegear so I would presume from that it has the chassis to hang it off.
  5. Five Piston Rings! (You have gone to that level of detail, right? :D) I REALLY want to order the Locomotion exclusive one but circumstances say no at the moment
  6. When I first got my static IP it was still "registered" in Germany. That got some strange results. It's now registered with the ISP as in Tewkesbury. So 157 miles instead of 400.
  7. We seem to have two deliveries a day - one for letters and one for packets. Sometimes they arrive at the same time, sometimes we get neither, sometimes one will be in the morning and one in the afternoon. I always give a cheery thank you - whatever the faults are at the moment, it's certainly not with the last mile people. Talking of strange tracking, DHL are a good one. We are roughly the same distance from Heathrow as we are to Gatwick. Sometimes we have packets that go to Gatwick, then Heathrow then delivered. Sometimes the other way round. I'm sure there's logic in there somewhere...
  8. We've been waiting for a new station to the north of Chelmsford for over 40 years. But we have had a sign for it for a while now. I expect the whole signpost will have rotten away before the damned thing is actually built. Maybe the replacement will correctly say Railway Station?
  9. On the North Circular was (maybe still is, but this photo is about 10 years old) a pest control company. Usually their pest of the week was moths or beetles or similar, but this one tickled me
  10. If he's wandering round the island collecting abandoned relics he might well have a the real thing up for grabs.
  11. Great work As for the other project - looks suspiciously like a pair of HST power cars?
  12. I recently sent a kit to France without issue - There are a few places I refuse (Russia for example when I was selling a phone) but for the most part, happy to do so at cost.
  13. Bring back the groan button!
  14. Used to be the only cheques I would regularly write was to pay rent. Finally this month they have realised it doesn't cost them anything to have a direct transfer so now I'm down to the odd one here or there.
  15. Ah, so it's like those houses with lights set to music then? Thanks
  16. Probably an idea we got from America. I know of at least one doing it from at least as far back as 2014. I always wonder when I see these, how it works with driver visibility. Night vision will be essentially zero?
  17. I've not tried it for that but probably yes if you cut the probe point to a fine enough tip.
  18. It's kind of like a spot welder - you apply power when you are ready - it's not hot all the time. So you can hold things in place with the probe and only actually make the joint when ready. You can also use a lot less solder so less cleanup to do and don't need to buy it as often. It's a wonderful piece of kit. This was an early piece - I used far too much solder cream:
  19. Apologies - I should have said instead of assuming. Resistance Soldering Unit - https://traders.scalefour.org/LondonRoadModels/various/soldering-materials-and-tools/
  20. RMWeb? Because it tells me everything lol! Think it has to be my RSU. It's made life much easier.
