  1. One model is marked as 'Last Few' on the Hornby website and I guess we'll see if the other is close behind it. In terms of 'shouldn't have made it into production' that doesn't look true going off sales of at least one version?
  2. Rapido Trains UK seems to have been set up purely to extract as much money out of my bank as possible it seems...
  3. I notice this evening in the comments of their most recent Facebook post that they have sadly closed down permanently. This comes from someone who claims to be related to an employee there. If this is indeed true, as I assume it is, sad news as it really was a great little shop.
  4. "Everything else you don't want"...
  5. Looks like I'll be getting my first Accurascale loco then! I was suitably impressed with the Accurascale wagons I got last year, so hopefully this will match that!
  6. Agree with all, other than that R3434 was re-run in 2022, so OP's loco may not be as old as the number suggests.
  7. Well, the item I ordered at half 4ish yesterday has been packed and sent according to an email a few minutes ago, excellent service until the very end it seems
  8. Last order placed with Hattons (not including my Barclay pre-order), purchased an item in a completely new scale to me as a bit of a project. Starting out a new scale with a Hattons purchase, it's like when I returned to the hobby all over again. For any Hattons staff that may see this, thanks all for everything, this hobby means a lot to me and you've helped in that a great deal.
  9. Not sure that's entirely fair, if a model is advertised as working on radius 2, it should probably work on any reasonably installed, reasonably clean example, not any and all. Plenty of track that could be too steep or out of level which any model could struggle on, both examples having nothing to do with the choice of loco
  10. I'm not sure that's the case. If that's the idea I'd be bemused that they have selected liveries which the next manufacturer may not stick to. If what you suggest was the case I'd have thought there'd be the option to pre-order one with no specifics as to livery etc, more of an expression of interest kind of thing.
  11. Pre-order duly placed for the Caledonia Works loco, for not really any reason other than it's grey, and I'm boring and like grey. Likewise, I had to approve the transaction in the Halifax app, the transaction for £0.00 that is... The quirks of technology and security I suppose
  12. Thanks for confirming, as far as I went to checkout before seemed to suggest payment was needed upfront, which made me a bit nervous given what's happening with Hattons at the moment. Also wonderful news, feigned innocence and the NCP fine has been cancelled!
  13. Is anyone aware of when pre-orders will no longer be accepted for these, it's now on the after payday list after NCP have hit me with a b*******g fine for a while 2 minutes at Gatwick Airport!
  14. One to Severn-ty Two, if you will ;)
  15. Blimey, I remember restarting after a break in the hobby and relying on the Hattons bargains section to kickstart the restart. Absolutely unbelievable and a hugely undeniable loss for the hobby.
  16. Sometimes it's worth taking them off at both ends and spinning it around, worked on my 9F.
  17. Hornby don't have an A4 with an RRP of £399? Even the Dublo ones aren't that much
  18. £99 is a bonkers price for an amazing locomotive. If the mortgage people have seen all the bank statements they want to maybe I'll add another one or two to the fleet.
  19. Streamlined GWR King to complete both the streamlined and oddball line up
  20. I think the list has a little bit of clumsy wording, eg: Would imply to me that Bachmann make a Class 20 based on Lima's, and Hornby do which is their own whereas the opposite is true, Hornby's is Ex-Lima, and the Bachmann one is solely theirs.
  21. Interesting to see that this has an articulated rear pony truck. I know that is a feature some people want on UK 00, with the fixed rear pony being more normal but I think it looks very odd in the video posted above where you can see it getting closer and further away from the cab floor as it runs up and down.
  22. Fine! I'll get the card out again, see if I care (my partner definitely does, maybe I won't tell her)
  23. The outer protector box for my Scotsman set (the first run) seems to suggest there were 800 odd sets in that delivery, plus another set and another delivery of both since (not to mention the digital ones!) Probably thousands, maybe pushing ten thousand sets sold. Not all will be new to the hobby of course, but decent numbers I would appear.
  24. So, unless you can go from 0 to 100 in one go on the first try, don't bother trying?
