  1. Well, today I went looking around the back of WCR Carnforth for the two EWS 08's.... They seem to have been having a bit of a tidy up, with the pile of scrap getting bigger, and less past their best coaches and locos lying around!!! A little while back (see post #1), I found the remains of 34073 Battle of Britain class 249 Squadron. Local chatter said that what remains would be used as parts for 34067 Tangmere. Today this looks to be the case as the boiler and smoke box have gone, leaving the frames, cylinders and wheels.... Ex Fragonset 47355 with coach remains The pile of scarp Former BR mark 1 sleeper Ex BR Mark 2 Pullman coach City of Manchester Some of the former mark 1 RES and EWS parcels stock is now making its way into view, the question is, is that going to be turned into razor blades? Ian

  9. Sadly, in general, this hobby (railways) can attract some certain types of people. Whilst on the whole, the vast majority of people involved are nice people, you seem to of found the less than desirable type here. I am sure we have all seen them, and as we all know, they don't last long! Kind regards Ian
  10. Ballasting is like Marmite. You either love it or hate it!!!

    Foxthwaite

Well it as been a little while since I have posted anything about Foxthwaite, for the simple reason that I haven't had the time to do much.... But I have now managed to build the main bridge, and start to weather it a bid, and start to get some ballast put down on the same board... The bridge still needs a bit of work to complete it, but still, it's built and installed so this will allow me to crack on with this board. the layout is currently kept/worked on in the box room, which gives me some room to work (ok, not very much room, but it's my room!!!). The photo above gives you a small view of the work so far. The black five is on the main line, and the Fowler tank is in the long siding. A HO gauge Sharp Stewart tank loco heading towards the station on the private line. Still now back to the ballasting!!! Kind regards Ian

  19. Hi Jeff, How are you getting on with this little project? Not seen anything about it for a little while. kind regards Ian
  20. How does this work then? Given that the train was running late, then left early, do you have to contact the relevant signal box and request to stop for this sort of reason, or are you allowed to just stop if you have a booked stop at that location? Likewise, if the latter is the case, then you get any early path, do they contact you first to check you are still on the loco and not got off to do what ever? Kind regards Ian
  21. Carnforth again, 15 July 2013, with the exception of the last photo which is 06 Feb 2013. Rail grinder units DR79262 and DR79272 47500 following its derailment and fire at Manchester 47760 leads 48151 and 45231 with the 5Z61 Carnforth West Coast Rail to York NRM. this is the stock for the Scarborough Spa Express 46115 sets off on a test run with the 5Z33 Carnforth-Hellifield-Preston-Carnforth Jack / Phil, I have not managed to loco at the locos you both mention as when I looked at the foot path behind WCR, all I could see was mud, deep mud!!!! But I will as soon as the path is useable. Kind regards Ian
  22. Or they could make them from memory metal, just like glasses............. Ian
