  2. 3. Thanks to a crafty shift swap, and an offer to cover an unfilled shift yesterday for mine on Thursday I find myself with eight days off!

  4. So today in A&E it really was Anything & Everything. Cardiac arrests, house fire victims, falls, can't wait for the GP tomorrow, and a drug addict that threatened to kill me for ending his high! What will tomorrow hold....

Well... It's been a little time since I have done any work on the layout...... Still, I seem to have found a jar of "modelling mojo" buried on the work bench last week, and even found time to play with full size trains... I have been looking at a photo in a book of Levens Junction box which was at the Ulverston end of the Levens Viaduct about 1/2 a mile from Plumpton Junction. together with Greenodd Junction they formed a triangle at the connection for the Lakeside branch. However, finding a decent photo has proved somewhat challenging. It appears to be the same Furness design as Dalton Junction box, of which photos are a bit easier to get hold of. So hear is the start of my attempt... Things where going fine until I rediscovered this (along with muscles that I forget I had)..... A day of jacking and packing track. I have got to say P-way work is less painful in 00 gauge Ian

Try 'mek-pak' + cellulose + thinners + 'super glue'. Suffering the consequences this morning. Not just on the chest!!

  15. Tomorrow is the last day of a week off, and I will do some work on the layout. Now I just need to keep telling myself that!

  16. Welcome to Cumbria. Police look after car for some who has taken ill, other officers don't know about it and get the army to blow it up! Mastercard moment http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-38838653

  18. Well according to a friend on Facebook. The first class 88 is been delivered to Carlisle on Tuesday by road. His statement is copied and pasted below. 88002 apparently. "Not strictly rail I know but for anyone living near the M6 the first Sparkycat or 88 is enroute by road to Carlisle for delivery on Tuesday so should transit Preston area either late Monday or crack of Sparrows Tuesday. If not deemed relevant feel free to delete. The remainder are to ship in via Workington in two batches of 4 and 5 with the 7 new 68s not far behind" Ian
  19. So apart from lacking time, space, effort, and motivation this model railway thing is going fine!

  20. Just to resurrect this topic..... I didn't realise about the polarity issue till I got a second class 28 for Christmas and spotted the sticker saying "polarity corrected" which the first one doesn't have. The link above no longer works. Does any body have the details of what I need to do to correct the first one please? Also does it affect the loco when been used in DC, DCC or both? Many thanks Ian
  21. Christmas shopping sorted. 1 Heljan Class 28 and 1 Bachmann observation coach... and relax....

I did see an article by someone against nuclear power, and they said radioactive waste was being pulled by old, unreliable locos. Although we know this isn't true, heritage liveries may not convey an image of safety to those concerned about radioactive waste being hauled around the network by 'old' locos.

    3. Horsetan

      Horsetan

Maybe they could repaint the sides of one using a spoof of the old protest badge "Nuclear Power? Yes Please!!"

  23. So last night the local round table reversed Santa's sleigh into a frends car. Now how do you explain that one to the insurance company!

  24. Don't you just love it when you use Google to find something, and what you then find is that a local paper (Northwest evening mail) has used your photo without either asking or giving a credit to you for it!!! Email sent to them....
