  5. Ok. Some from Carnforth Station Jc. this morning 37423 on the 2C47 Preston to Barrow - in - Furness service 150118 on the 2Y55 Morecambe to Leeds service An unexpected turn out was 48151 on the 5M51 Carnforth WCR to Hellifield and return on a lightly loaded test run with one support coach and a 47 on the rear. Some of the others abut seemed to be hopping for Scotsman! And looking across to the yard at WCR A very shiny 37685 A collection of 47's, but does anyone know which the faded blue one is that is just visible at the back? Ian
  6. Just seen 48151 out on test. Photos later when I can feel my fingers and toes again!!!

My least favourite loco and Statesman Rail my least favourite operator. Paid handsomely for a steam hauled trip Lancaster over Settle and Carlisle to Carlisle and back. 48151 hit problems at Preston (injector) and replaced by class 47 County of Essex at Hellifield. All Statesman concerned about was making up and gaining time so the pleasures of a steam loco wiring hard and lingering views of the countryside were substituted by a diesel flat out and the scenery a blur. Statesman didn't giv...

  7. Just to add to Kev's post, I see from the pages of rail magazine http://www.railmagazine.com/news/network/2016/01/21/drs-to-add-third-set-for-northern-s-cumbrian-coast that a third set is coming out to play. Ian
  8. Well I've done it. Found a new job in the same hospital and told my boss! As she put it well done "ok but you do relise your jumping out of the frying pan and int the fire". Still fire isn't that bad right! After allit's the main ingredient for steam engines?

    1. Horsetan

      Horsetan

Fire's alright as long as it doesn't burn you to a crisp. Still, if the hospital has a specialist burns unit, then you've nowt to worry about....

  12. Confussion.... I have an interview at work for a new job on Monday, but the NHS wont accept my NHS ID badge that they gave me as ID! Why do I have an ID badge if it can't be used as ID?

They probably need to do a DBS check which needs passport, birth certificate, driving licence, etc..

      Mike Bellamy

Whenever we recruit anyone we have to take a photocopy of passport or other id to prove that candidates have the right to work in the UK and haven't got an expired overseas visa etc

  15. Slightly off topic... Grayhound bridge, the former railway bridge which now forms part of Lancaster's one way system and the A6 has been closed since yesterday awaiting a safety inspection today following the floods. Apparently a shipping container sailed down the river Lune and hit both bridges! Tha army were called in to assist my work mates to get to the Infirmary using some very big army trucks driving over the bridge. What a sight to be hold. Ian

Well a small update. Things haven't been moving very fast. Namely down to the fact of on my days off I seem to find other things to do. Having had a bit of a think I am aiming to get at least four hours worth of work done on the layout a week. This week I am winning...... The cattle dock is completed and painted (just needs weathering) Some grass is down and hill sides in Likewise, as per post 9, the bridge has been playing on my mind The bridge was a bit narrow (note past tense!), so I have been busy removing the sides, and rebuilding them with a bit more room One side done, and well on the way with the other Photos to follow Ian
  21. Wow. Occupational health had four railway mags in the waiting room. Not bad for the NHS! Even better when you think it is built in an old railway yard of Lancasters first station...

  22. At the risk of upsetting a certain Captain Kernow..... I have just located the missing sausages that I thought my step-daughter may have eatten. Looking at the state of them I rather wish she had done... Only fit for the bin now! Note to self - keep the fridge tidy!!!

You're lucky - Mrs Stationmaster still can't find the ones she was sure she had put away in the freezer. and it's definitely not the cats at fault - they prefer warm food.

  23. Why do Parcelforce, Royal mail and every other parcel delivery group turn up about 20 mins after the bin men take the recycling away! Looks like a run to the tip!
