Funnily enough it was from Chile, and no hangover

I dunno what it is about Chilean wines. They always cause hangovers for me. No other country's wine does this.

When I lived in the UK, I used to receive a lot of (eBay) parcels at home. As I worked, and therefore often wasn't at home when the post lady came on her bike, I made an arrangement with her to leave anything for me at the village PO and just put a parcel slip through the door and I would collect when I could. It was then that she told me that for registered mail with a specific delivery time that they must make an attempt to do so, even though they know the person almost certainly won...

't be at home, as was the case with me.

On the odd occasions that I was at home when she called, it was a little annoying if a parcel slip came through the door but this gave me the perfect excuse to walk to the PO later in the day and collect my goodies.

  11. SHMBO has been out and got new paintfor the living room. The good news is that they seem to be railway colours. The not so good news is it would match 57601 in Porterbook livery!!!

Both. But I am tempted to paint 57601 on the wall!

  12. Just a small question/thought, why does 97303 have what looks like a radioactive warning sticker next to the main headlight? Nice photo's Jim Ian
  13. Tesco and Wilkinsons have teamed up to make a secret rain making device. They need to be used together and have the code names of fence paint and brush! If you take both outside together the sky turns black, if you atempt to open the "fence paint" it starts to rain!

  14. This week is not going well! Mangaged to stab myself with a used needel at work.... The only up side (if there is one) is that it was from a 90 odd year old woman and not one of the regular IV drug users that was in the next bed!

O yes, just more blood tests to look forward to...

  15. Managed to arrange my brakes at work so I could get down to see it, and I am glad I did. As I said to Jamie (who it was nice to briefly chat with), the photos on here are good, but they don't do it justice. To see it in real life it is stunning, and as for the size.... All involved with its building should be very proud of themselves. Kind regards Ian
  16. If you stand in the first doorway with the window down you should. Preston to Carnforth then Cark to Dalton I would guess to be the loudest sections Ian
  17. Where is it again and what times please? I pop down Thanks Ian
  18. Sun shine, wind, rain and snow! not a bad afternoon in Carnforth...

  20. To be honest I'm not to sure, they still seem to be doing some repairs/repainting, and shunting stock around the yard. You do hear the 03 whistles most days. Ian
  21. Yesterday I needed to nip into the model shop on the station, so didn't take my camera ...... Things were happening First thing I noticed that was a lot of DRS action, early in the day 2C43 was hauled by the newly out shopped 37402, the day did not start well for it, and ended worse! There was no Guard at Carlisle so it worked ECS to Maryport, then 37402 started playing up and the service was terminated at Lancaster instead of Preston. Consequently 2C47 was then cancelled and 5C47 formed from Lancaster to Barrow, 37409 was summoned from Kingmoor and hauled it. We pick this you as 37402 was dethatched from the train and dumped at Carnforth. Fortunately, I had the camera on my, not the best but still 37409 after dropping failed 37402 into the sidings I then turned to notice a strange site for Carnforth at the other end of the platform as the Royal Scotsman stock was been shunted out from WCR. During this exercise I encountered a stupid couple elderly couple how walked off the end of the platform ramp and down the four foot to take a photo of the end of the coaches that where been shunted out! Having shouted them back and explained the danger that they put themselves in the man told me that the coaches have lovely wooden doors on the end and I should take a look! I reiterated their stupidity only for him to genuinely ask if they go back that way will they see the steam engines!!!!! What can I say Anyhow, 2 class 73's where here and about to head back to Scotland 73968 is in the middle and 73969 leading Whilst back in WCR yard 61306 seems to be missing a cab and boiler and 47772 seems to have made its way out and back into public view Ian
  22. Today I watched as an elderly couple walked off the ramp at the end of the platform and along the 4ft to take photos of the lovely woodwn door on the end of the coach whilst stock was been shunted out of WCR. I explains the danger, he said can we get that way to the steam engine's? Then they had an argument about it!

  23. SHMBO left reading glasses at work. Reading new hair drier instructions for her... Hair must be towel dried or fully dry! Why would you need a hair drier if your hair is dry?

      Its a girl thing .

  24. I see from the pages of Facebook that 37402 is now out and about in large logo blue. And looks pretty good too...... Are DRS going for blue/gray livery again whilst bringing Scotland to Cumbria!!! Ian
  25. Have nipped into the doctors today with a medical emergancy, and expecting to have to fight for an appointment with the receptionist, only to be told "go upsatairs and I'll phone the doctor to tell her to see you stright away". Now that is the service we should see from the NHS.
