True, but in my defense my recent build is the subject of an article in next month's BRM so you'll have to wait for that
The laptop is an ancient Dell Inspiron 1000 that dates back to at least 2000/2001. One of the hinges is loose and I can't see it lasting much longer TBH!
It at least has an RS232 post so interfaces directly with the MERG servo 4 boards without an adaptor cable
-
The April issue of BRM is going to be a good one so I am told
-
I find the office guillotine lends itself to chopping up pcb sleepers
-
No Steve, none whatsoever. I have been hopelessly distracted by O gauge recently........
-
John, do you have the tender? I have an O gauge Q1 with no tender and need something to copy when scratchbuilding. Would you be prepared to part with the tender?
-
Also demonstrates how poorly RR plant is sometimes looked after, if we treated any of NR's wheelsets like that we would be in deep doo doo! Lets have it on some wooden bolsters lads

Swanwick Jn is at the MRB

What a joy it must be to be able to plan your build without the need to change the order of works to suit exhibition deadlines
Seriously great work there Wenlock

I did print off the track plan scaled down for drafting out the signalling etc which turned out to be approx N gauge - I commented at the time that it would make a nice shelf layout. I don't fancy handbuilding a double slip in N though!
-
Nice pics there jazz. That's my able assistant for Saturday and part of Sunday Francis operating. I was the other side of The Berlin Wall doing my DCC demo

Praise indeed

just checked, it was
-
all in "the plan" - I might get them sorted for Ricoh - need a different one at each end as the barrow crossing at the left hand is access to the camping coach only ......
-
19 or 20, the hitchhikers were bough s/h off ebay for approx half price though
-
Silly boy, the cranks are already painted "oily Steel", although track weathering will tone them down a bit
-
That's your job first thing Saturday morning at the Ricoh
fence is now grey, will plant it tomorrow hopefully .....
-
yeah, I use an old tin of PP LMS crimson lake
-
I did the opposite, spray painted the brown then flooded the cream into the panels by brush. The black was then applied by brush. Lining with Humbrol matt ocre via a Bob Moore lining pen
-
never say never, but not at the moment, I will have all on getting this coach and the layout for it to run on ready for RMweb Live!
The roofs are removable, so lighting could be added at a later date ....

I have a new toy "on test" from work that helps with the fiddly bits no end http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenser-LED7298-H7R-2-Rechargeable-Head/dp/B00FYVF62C/ref=sr_1_2

Glued all the seats together and painted the floor/partition walls last night. Seats will turn red tonight then I can look at adding the detail bits before finally gluing them in the body ....
The irony of the seats being from current production is that they are the very colour that I am painting the rest of the interior
-
I think they were from an advert in Hornby Mag, I've done some digging and these seem similar http://yorkmodelmaking.co.uk/useful-bits
-
Ta, wheels are back on and brake pull rods fitted. Just got the lamp irons and buffers to fit and it's ready for it's body
