  1. Actually when I posted my message the model was in stock, uploaded on the 4th March it has since sold
  2. Looks like this problem still exists and shops are happy to exploit. http://www.hattons.co.uk/262503/Hornby_R2420_SD_Class_31_D5512_in_BR_green_Pre_owned_forward_lights_only_work_in_one_direction/StockDetail.aspx Can't imagine I would be too happy at paying £68 for a model that could arrive with a cracked body, already got a couple of chips and they say the ligths don't work.
  3. So I decided my first N gauge layout will be GWR 1930's, so why on earth did I just buy 2 BR Suburban Mark 1's in Crimson??

can we assume they were N gauge??

They are indeed N gauge, although given I have 2 OO gauge exhibition layouts I am not totally abandoning that yet.

Looks like Rule 1 applies to go with the BR Duchess, BR Blue Merchant Navy, Garter Blue as preserved A4, Doncaster Green 47 and BR Blue 31. Guess I need a BR Standard 4 tank to pull the new coaches now :)

  5. Seems to happen with models, Hornby has done the same with some OO gauge models. No doubt we will see further runs of various models they have shelved for now. Lets not forget they are trying to catch up on previous products annoucned so limiting what we get this year will help that. Give it time and new model numbers may increase, providing we all buy them.
  6. I have noticed this too when looking at pre-owned peco track, I don't mind buying 2nd hand track. my currently set up of 4 loops has quite a bit of 2nd hand track including points. But I wouldn't expect to pay the same for it 2nd hand as I do for new, even if it was "as-new".
  7. Not sure where these rumours have come from, but Locomotion at Shildon posted a video on Facebook at 14:50 of 2818 and E5001 getting shunted into the museum by the resident shunter. Given that the 71 is in front of 2818 I would presume she is still there
  8. Only change I can see if the track occupation on the track panel screen.
  9. Hi Dave Just a quick question as I am not 100% on crowd funding and how they work in model raiwlay terms, what sort of schedule are we looking at for payment? Probably a bit early to ask this but is there any rough idea on cost as yet? Want to make sure if htis goes ahead I have money available for it/them (better ask for more overtime)
  10. Got to say this has my vote, I can see some people's Point of View above regading other previously annoucned models, however as this is a "special" engine and I doubt many people will buy lots - the class only numbered 30 and didnt really stray off 2 or 3 routes Paddington - Birmingham, Cornwall and South Wales (I am not 100%, am sure someone will tell me) so their appeal is limited. I am planning an N Gauge GWR junction station and the idea of a King thundering through on the Cornish Riviera has great appeal, but even then I would probably only want 2 one for each direction (may got more on a whim). Based on the above I see them as ideal for Crowd Funding, whereas the 43XX and J94 will repay their costs over time due to higher sales the King might not. Plus presumably producing this model at no cost as it were might create the cash flow needed to get one of the otehr N gauge models off the ground. So put me down for a pair in GWR - one Shirtbutton and one Great "CREST" Western please. Oh and one other thing it would help me win appeal for getting these if either of those were to carry the name "King Edward.." nameo f some sort

  12. Just to update parcel arrived by 11am yesterday so less than 19 hours from posting to arrival. Definitely a repeat customer now, good excuse to go and visit the Isle of Man Railway too
  13. Placed my first order with Track Shack this morning and already suitably impressed. I ordered a Bachmann OO gauge inspection saloon for my Dad's birthday and decided to get a Farish Bulleid Brake coach as they are the cheapest I have found them so far. Had a phone call from Track Shack to double check I had not made a mistake ordering 2 different scales, top marks there for customer services. Some places would probably post them off and make the custoemr sort it out if there was an error.
  14. I think they have said its not in their plans but you never know in the future. Am sure they would take it on if they could, be even better if they could do both, imagine a railway that had 2 A4's calling it home, would certainly draw the crowds.
  15. Presumably the split headcode will follow next year or the year after. They only have a finite amount of resources so something has to be done for sound or DCC on board or whichever. There will be people who model BR Green era who will be upset their model does not have sound. Perhaps you could sell the sound chip to someone who wants sound?
  16. http://tri-angman.co.uk/shop/ has some stuff on his website, he does a few shows in the north east of England as well. Have dealt with him before and he is a really nice chap
  17. As above these aee his property and he is free to do with them as he wishes, however as he said above "no one will write him a 7 year ticket" sadly he won't last forever and at some point these locos will become the property of another person(s) or organisation. They may then return to the rails one day. Until then lets enjoy Union while she lasts.
  18. Probably to do with breaking some of the "dullness" of seeing the same basic livery over and over again*, go out on the real railway anywhere and whats the chances of seeing Evening Star or one of the 2 Royal Scotsman examples, chances are if Bachmann did all 3 there would be at least one layout that featured them all. Variety is the spice of life as they say * Disclaimer: I am not trying to say the modern liveries are dull but as with any time I am sure we can all agree the idea of a constant stream of engines all in the same livery be it GWR Green, BR Blue, EWS/Freightliner or GBRF or whoever is not that interesting and you need something to break that up a bit
  19. Didn't stop Harburn hobbies comissioning Lima to do 37428 in Royal Scotsman livery back in the 1990's, although they did say they had no plans to do the coaches then I presume that bit still stands. However the prospect of someone making a model that is different, albeit a different livery is likely - again I suspect it will be Harburn who do it.
  20. Wonder if this will be a collectors club model or a general release. Fitting tribute to him
  21. Something that has not beewn mentioned here as far as I can see is the following statement from the last Locomotion Models newsletter "Unfortunately, demand for the Sturrock tender option has been low as the majority (approximately 85%) or orders were for the original/current tender. It is with great regret that we have decided to cancel the Sturrock tender option as it is not financially viable for the museum to progress further. Every customer who ordered the Sturrock tender variant will receive a letter or an email to let them know our plans and they will be arriving from today onwards. " Shame for those of us (like me) who wanted the Sturrock tender option, as I would have liked it how she was running in the 1980's, still a model of No;1 with the "wrong" tender (as far as my preferred option goes) is better than no model at all.
  22. Anyone else spend that whole video watching for some sneak peeks in the background?
  23. And also prevents Bachmann and model shops having cash flow tied up in stock that sits around for months or even years. I doubt many of us will be able to afford 2 class 40's at once.
  24. This is a shop I have not used yet but I certianly will be soon when I need a few 6 pin chips for some models (just need toget the funds for them first) now if you guys could also stock lenz silver minis with wires as opposed to 6 pins you would get even nore money from me
  25. I had the same problem with mine and it wouldn't pull 2 mark 1's on a 3rd radius curve without slipping, a slight loosening of the screw did the job and it works fine, the screw hasn't come loose yet.
