  1. The other pictures from the same date taken on the station don't look much different to today, or have the canopies changed? Gosh, that's a very generous offer, I'll have a word with my software mad mates to see what they've got up their sleeves. Edit to include: Another picture of the old canal pumping station is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/olympus_yashica/5334276730/ station in background.
  2. Just scanned this picture of Penny Bridge. I didn't remember those buildings at the bottom of the slope to the water tower being there so late.
  3. Finally got to the pictures of Warminster dated 24/04/1978, taken with my brand new Olympus OM1. More to follow. I did take some earlier pictures, but the negatives for those are lost.
  4. Please do not be tempted to crop to the train in this or any other picture. Train pictures are two a penny, I've see too many photos where something of interest has a train in the way. After all, it's just another GW mogul, but the rest of the picture is crammed with detail. I am reminded of a picture of an A4 in colour at some London shed, what is really interesting is the partly obscured ex PO wagon, with its livery clearly visible. Also the shot at Buildwas is of more interest because you stepped back.
  5. Question. What is the speed limit for cycles on pavements?

the ticket becomes invalid. You can also be prosecuted for the offences of Dangerous cycling, Careless, and inconsiderate, cycling, and Cycling when under influence of drink or drugs! As for trying to enforce some of these though, it can be difficult when say your in a built up area with plenty of alleyways and in a car. But there are the legislations out there though. These might interest you:www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/part/I/crossheading/cycling-offences-and-cycle-racing

A stick through the spokes should slow it down....

So it's not 30, as some cyclists seem to think?

  6. Dave, a lot of boxes I've seen had a wooden walkway in front of the box, over the rodding. This enabled the signalman/other staff to safely cross this area. Looking good though!

Spending quality time with your wife has more value than a few models (especially the first time in eight years) - but keep these models coming!
  8. Do you have an outing in mind for the layout Captain?
  9. From my position on a layout behind Fencehouses, I was able to spot a photo opportunity when sunlight came through onto the staging roads. that colour of rods on the 9F is just so....
  10. I couldn't see a credit for the photos?
  11. Nice condition. Painted metal looks like - painted metal! The finish on the HD coaches couldn't be bettered. Pity they were so short. I've kept my old Hornby Dublo, but some of it was 2 rail. Quite amusing when I was invited to a club open day, the only thing I had to take in OO was my 2-6-4 tank and half a dozen coaches, mind you they caused a stir when they went round! Conversion to 2 rail can be done using the existing loco wheels, there were lots of articles on it in the 60s, or you may be able to get insulated wheels and pickups as spares. The Castle already has plastic wheels on the bogie and tender, so you're part way there.
  12. Ha Ha, no does she live on the route of HS2? In which case she has a vested interest. Since they can't seem to win the "No to HS2" argument, they have to use smear tactics.
  13. One thing I regret not doing (and would on the next one) is paint the underside white. Makes for a smart underneath, seals the surface, and makes it easier to find things (like broken wires)!
  14. finally picked up the soldering iron.

  16. Good luck with the change of scale. What have you built so far in the "small" scale?
  17. Interesting picture of the slip coach, but I cannot work out where it was taken. It looks like it's heading away from Bath with that background.
  18. Amazing who you bump into!
