  1. White Spirit will remove Bachmann Lettering/ Lining
  2. I presume excess metal on the edge ? I use needle files and a sharp swan morton blade if that is the problem? What perio are you modellling?
  3. Re Chimney try a gentle tap from inside the smokebox if you can get to the inside. My NRM conversions of the A3 were sorted without drama in this way. One even survived for further use if needed !. Nice repaint well done
  4. Simples Its a basic version . Surprised no vac pipes, missing from box ???
  5. Surprising to read that as I have built the same set. My Kitchen Car came with a etched parttition wall and nothing else as did all the other coaches in my set.
  6. I agree re weathering as said earlier it will be very light. That is the reason my Pacifics are always immaculate far to nice to dirty up cheers
  7. V3 up and running. Awaits a light weathering. Please excuse the Dust
  8. Looks very nice. The Kitchen Car on the Triplet on the should have Opaque Windows if you are not aware.
  9. More progress . Mould lines cleaned up and gaps filled . New handrails, Lamp irons where needed and extra details added. About to be primed and painted plain Black. It will be a post war V3 with unshaded Yellow Gills San Lettering and Numbers A new set of drivers are on way from Bachmann and a set of Brake rodding which was missing from Loco on purchase. I have now decided to retain the original Bogie wheels and pick ups. I have re wired the Bogies with thinner wire which looks much better than the "Tow Rope" fitted on arrival. Painting the wheel edges has improved their look no end.
  10. You could try stretching it and making an L1? He heh..... Too late the Hornby one is good enough for me Bogie Wheels replaced with Gibsons and pick ups removed without any problems
  11. Larry Plain Teak livery including ends. I have added some minor detail to the kit as per the Parkside Horsebox thread on here . Cheers for the compliment
  12. Latest cheap Ebay rescue job is this very sad looking Bachmann V1/3 Body is basically undamaged , it needs a good clean up some extra detail and a repaint. Chassis works well. BUT someone has filed off the flange from the centre drivers WHY ??!! and a a rear split plastic axle is also required. Hopefully Bachmann will have spares. Has anyone updated one of these ? Will the Loco run ok without the awful pickups/wire on the equally awful Bogie wheels? I cannot seen any reason why not at the moment, before I start cutting. Are the huge Coils springs needed on the bogie wheels too ? or there a better way of springing them please? Is it viable to change the Bogie wheels for Gibsons/Markits? cheers
  13. Glazing was a bit of a pain. There is no inside top ledge for the bottom Toilet window to fit into . The Top Fanlight is a seperate moulding which is very thick , I presume the idea is to allow it to be modelled open ? It doesnt woek due to thicknes to allow a rebate for the glazing. It would be much better moulded as one complete window IMHO. Lightly weathered
  14. In use on the postwar LNER, the Hornby L1 has taken a nice picture too
  15. Avaiable at a RRP of £8 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Chivers-kit-LNER-BR-Dia120-Gresley-4w-Full-Brake-/270744409582?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f099fd5ee why pay this and £4 postage must be a new Lead version There are others also current kits going for silly money from the same seller , bet he is happy
  16. Awaits varnish , glazing and finished Detail added to underframe
  17. Ready for varnish then glazing and done. Detail added to the underframe
  18. Where are the lamp irons on the brake van from please ? Some nice work
  19. The new Parkside LNER Horsebox. I have added wire Handrails and Door Handles , MJT Roof Vents and Door Knobs. I will also add Brake Yokes and operating wire for the Brakes prior to painting.
  20. My reworked one ready for Primer New Handrails, Door handles. MJT Vents and new Buffers which will be fitted after painting
  21. Sorry the comment was about adding simple straight handrails not a total rebuild !! hardly finescale by any stretch of the imagination. As I said earlier if you dont want to add wire handrails, then just add a piece of plastic rod to cover the marks/dimples for the handrails , I wouldnt think many people would struggle with that and a lot easier/simpler than building the rest of any kit I know off. I cant imagine many "average" modeller would build one of these or similar kits , they are obviously more complicated than a simple Wagon or Van kit. I wasnt aware that Parkside kits were aimed at the "average" modeller ??
  22. Its no real problem to remove the actual handrails . The result is of course, the potential damage to surrounding detail on the bodywork. The Horsebox isnt too bad the Pigeon Van was a real problem due to very long horizontal rails. It would be much easier for the bodies to have the handrail positions marked with a hole or dent . You can then fit a handrail or glue a piece of Plastic rod onto the marks. Simples Glazing will be added to mine after painting the body sans roof . The Roof will be added last
