  1. The first thing I would be looking at is that the mechanism from worm onwards is not to tight! Khris
  2. Frankly, I don't think it matters how many how to's you see, you will always learn something more. Everyone has different ways of doing things and/or finds a better way than shown of how to put a kit together, we all learn. Bundeena.....Keep it going. I'm in my sixties and still learning here in Oz! Khris
  3. What is misleading with the title????? It is winding up so if you are interested in the thread one would see that Wizard Models are winding the business up after now taking it over from the Cleal family! My condolences to the family. Like others I heard he retired from ill health but did NOT realise he had passed away. Khris
  4. Correct me if I am wrong BUT, isn't ID Backscenes and Art-Printers one and the same? I have one of their backsecenes and the quality is pheonominal! I have been in touch to get more and in discussions with them they will reverse print to help you extend so it matches etc. I haven't gone ahead yet as more than a couple of bills got in the way then Christmas.....but would certainly recommend them for quality! Also for hardy any more extra you can get it in vinyl as well, for easy clean! Another to go on the list is Gaugemaster who also do backscenes. Khris
  5. Well at least 2 peoples want it...... Khris
  6. Well I know I would not be complaining if it were my work! Looking good there Scott, and the pace is akin to Coachman when he works Khris

  11. How do you manage NOT to put bends in the whitemetal pipe on the side of the loco. Mine on the Hall kept getting squashed in from my handling so I cut it off and used a piece of 1mm brass tube. Problem solved! Khris
  12. As an update for those who may find this thread at a later date. There is a plan and article on this class in Railway Modeller October 1997. My thanks to the BRMNA for the online resource of articles listed here: http://www.brmna.org/xrefs.shtml Khris
  13. Hi all, I am just starting a Mallard 517 and the instructions supplied consist of 1 page showing the etches and another showing the sort of assembly. My questions: Does anyone know if there were more instructions than these? And if there are more than these 2 scant pages could someone help out with the rest of the instructions.....if there are any more. TIA Khris PS: Anyone have plans for a 517?

  15. If memory serves me there was more detail on the blog than appeared in the article. Khris
  16. Not sure what you meant in your last rresponse. China Clay ones appeared to be blue but I don't know if all tarps were blue or other colours. Khris
  17. Anthony, Is that ply on rhs also where a track is going? (Goes from RHS of where plastic track starts and goes up and curves left) Just seems rather steep if it is! Khris Edited to clarification!
  18. Hi Timbersurf, Were the GWR tarps Black? I have no idea, hence my question. I know the china clay were Blue. They look Ok and will be useful to me in the nearer future. Good luck with this. Khris

  20. Railway Breakdown Cranes by Tatlow Vols 1&2 Khris
  21. Marlyn, Would the paint itself have enough strength to hold the thread in place? Meaning could you bypass glueing with PVA and have the paint do the job. Khris
  22. Scott, What thickness styrenne are you using or have I misread some of this thread? Khris
  23. For what it is worth my suggestion is to stop (moderate) the thread until you are ready to continue and then re-open it, that way everything will be in the one place! Khris
  24. That feeling you have when you find that you have soldered the wrong Loco bogie sideframes on, after double checking
