  1. Steve, Do you have access to Great Western Way? If so I think you will find a lot of that detail there. Sorry it is not much help but I am in the same boat as you trying to source info. Khris
  2. Steve, What way have you decided to go with these? You can still achieve good results with effort with these. Khris
  3. It was a thread off the old site! I don't know how to get to it to post the link as I printed the thread. Khris
  4. If that is all you have to complain about, how about you go to some modelling! Khris

Scalelink do the right diameter in 4mm, I think. Markits weren't available when I needed some.

  6. Anyone have a set of 14xx wheels doing nothing that they wish to sell?

  9. As an addendum to a post by Adrian Wintle: "GWR 57 Bow-ended stock part 1 MRC 1/68 Dia E 128 Brake Composite to lot 1350." Part 2 is in the Feb/68 issue of MRC. Drawings of a brake 3rd and a composite NB: the drawings are short as is noted on the pages due to a production issue, It would be good if this thread had of been able to be bought over here, otherwise at least continued from here. Khris
  10. Without sitting down and consciously analyzing the particular TT I would have to wonder how many there were in total as a whole. Not just E128 but brake composites as a whole! It was just when I sat down and counted the number of each type of coach for the 4 trains, did I realise I only wanted 1 Brake composite....all the rest are brake 3rds. Full thirds would be warranted and they have done those albeit in a very short run or they were that popular that they sold out quick in choc and cream as did all the other choc and cream coaches! Khris
  11. Thank you. Would be good to see. I'm hacking about to make it. While there are a few Brake 3rds there aren'tt that many Brake comps. The group of trains I want to model needs 1 Brake comp so needless to say I had to choose the one with no plan to start with Now I have that work can proceed....at the speed of a startled slug! Khris
  12. Robin, Thanks for that. One place I didn't think to look! Anyway I now have a plan and thanks to you the roof layout as well! Khris
  13. Hi all, Does anyone have a drawing for the above please? I have pics but not a layout drawing. I am trying to work out the compartment, toilet and guards sizes and it is doing my head in! It consists of Toilet, 4 x 3rd class, 2x 2nd class toilet, guard. As usual any and all help is appreciated. Khris
  14. Toms article is in the Railway Modeller Feb 2016 pages 98 - 101 His Blog description is here: https://tfmodelling.wordpress.com/2015/04/07/74xx-in-the-making/ Khris
  15. Hi, I haven't had time to look up Toms article but here are some links for those interested in the conversions. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/104912-Bachmann-64xx-conversion-to-74xx-how-hard-can-it-be/ http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/130355-gwr-74xx-pannier-tank-from-64xx-whats-different/?hl=74xx http://www.gwr.org.uk/no-64xx.html Khris
  16. The reason Pendon don't use hair anymore is that it deteriorates, hence why they now use plumbers hemp. From memory it was mentioned in the Roye England book which is available from Pendon and worth every cent/penny in my view! Khris
  17. Colin, The second and third last pics here, are they in the bottom of a large valley at Pendon? I only ask as when I was there in 2011 there was a lady we met, who had just started on a bridge which is a copy of one from a town not all that far from there from memory. She showed us some pics and told us where it was which we duly went to to see the actual bridge! Khris
  18. Tom, At least you are fortunate enough to still be able to photograph the old station cottage. I suppose it shouldn't really surprise me as in the UK you tend to keep buildings and NOT destroy them at will like here in Australia I know I certainly wouldn't mind the old farmhouse. Looks good with character! Look even better done up. Khris
  19. Thanks for the responses guys. Appreciated. Jason....could you advise where there is a list to convert those letters to first/brake/composites please? Fatadder, Yes I knew there was a break where firsts weren't built for a while. It is mentioned in the Harris book. What had me puzzled was the fact that there a a few listed in the 1936 Timetable so there had to be a few about that were NOT 70' as those ones are identified! Khris
  20. Hi all, I am trying to work out what diagram 1st class coaches were about in this time period. I know that there were a lot of 3rd and brake 3rds made in the 20's but there didn't appear to be many (if any) first class coaches built in the time period which leaves me to try to work out what was used on trains. eg: Formation..Brake Comp,Dining, Van 3rd, 1st, 3rd, van 3rd. This is a formation from 1936. Would Toplight 1st have been the only things available at that time or would clerestory coaches have been the most likely? Of course I am open to correction on that. Also given it has NOT been marked as a 70ft that discounts some diagrams. Also on the same sort of note I think it was Adrian who mentioned particular diagrams for a train from a TT in another thread quite a while back now. How do you work out the diagrams please? i almost have the feeling from memory that you referred to a TT which gave these to you but I cannot fathom out that from the one I have. Any and all help would be much appreciated. Khris
  21. This is from another site but the idea is worthy of sharing to those who are interested. http://platform1mrc.com/p1mrc/index.php?threads/episode-105-18-the-gormo-3-link-coupling-system.2987/ Khris
  22. Been away last few months and just catching up. I never met Alan BUT I have always found him helpful, and more important ENCOURAGING to all modellers here. A very sad loss to the hobby. Belated Condolences to his family and friends. Khris
  23. Years!.... I'd like to see that    You no sooner start and it is finished :sungum: Khris
  24. Andy, Tried it for 12 months and never again. Can't work out how you can use the digital as reference as I found more often than not, I had to re download the issue again. But that was just one issue I had. I like a lot of others need it in the hand to read.......the screen is not for me! Khris
