  1. I'm no expert, but I would have thought not, most PO wagons were for mineral traffic, which doesn't need protection from the elements. The only exception that I can think of was salt, those wagons have rooves.
  2. I didn't know about the Saltash show, until your earlier post, I'm already down to visit Yealmpton and I doubt that I will get the chance to do Saltash as well, which is a pity. Perhaps the organizers of the shows good get together to avoid a clash, next year.
  3. I believe that the Yealmpton show is also next weekend!
  4. Whilst I was on the Canadian, Vancouver to Toronto. I got chatting to an American businessman whose company produces the software for various countries tax collection, including ours. I mentioned the state of HS2 and it being put on a back burner, he said in the States when such financial dilemmas occur they just print more money to cover it, the idea being to keep people employed and paying taxes and thus keep tax revenues rolling in, not going out in state handouts.
  5. The Tellytubbies services is Gloucester (Farm Shop) services, probably one of the best services, that I have had a need to stop at.
  6. There's no crossing the track, the existing track is pushed over to the island platform face and the existing platform is extended to meet the realigned track, thus making a platform face on both sides of the train, as per Horsted Keynes on the Bluebell Railway, exit on one side, you're on the station side platform, exit the other side and you're on the island platform. You pass through the train. When I have travelled the route, I have not seen anyone alight or join to travel between Bere Alston and the Gunni line stations or vice versa.
  7. Having just about caught up with this thread, by skimming through it, I have a suggestion for Bere Alston use the island platform slew the existing line to it, extend the existing platform out, put the Gunni line on the other side of the island, passengers requiring the Gunni train alight on the island, those requiring Bere Alston alight on the extended original platform. No bridge, no steps and no lift required. The Gunni train is safely locked into it's own section of track. The first train would divide and the last would combine.
  8. I saw a Castle set passing over St Levan viaduct on Tuesday evening around 6.40 heading towards Plymouth. No time to get the phone out and snap a quick photo.
  9. Pre 1922 Lake livery, 1922 to 28, lined panel or faux panel with the garter crest, post 28 plain chocolate and cream with the twin cities crests.
  10. Such are the vagaries of the war office/MOD. There were several establishments in the Yelverton area, now either abandoned or housing estates. Mostly the latter!
  11. Have they based their layout on Little Muddle, with the lack of shed doors? Tongue pressed very firmly in cheek!
  12. Off topic, but when I was in Washington, not Sussex or op Norf, somewhere, but DC there were operatives about with flack jackets on with Secret Service, written on them, I mentioned to one of them that I didn't think that he was very secret, as he was advertising the fact that he was supposed to be. He just laughed, I assume that, that had been pointed out to him before. I wouldn't have thought that Wrangaton was very secret, but far enough from Plymouth to avoid Adolf taking an interest in it, or for that matter Comrade Stalin.
  13. Mine doesn't always cut 10 thou, it seems to vary between sheets. Not to difficult to break out at that thickness.
  14. Nice to have some good news, for a change. I hope that you can now get back on the exhibition circuit again and I can get to see this amazing layout again.
  15. Just managed to catch up since Friday, I was expecting to go and look for my old welding googles, after Friday's post, but I have been spared the need. I thank you. I hope you all had a good weekend at Stafford, whilst I attended Scaleforum on Sunday.
  16. My meters are difficult to read, so I use the camera on the mobile phone and take a photo, it sometimes takes a couple of attempts to get the reading, but it's easier than trying to get under the stairs for the gas, and up near the ceiling for the lectric.
  17. Mr Duck, Have you built the tall thin thing with waggly bits, for the train set, or are you modelling the station after a winter storm blew it down?
  18. I had a quick look around down there this afternoon, no photos I'm afraid. There seems to be more exhibits at the roundhouse, than my previous visit 7 or 8 years ago. A pity that I couldn't spend more time, but I'm sending this from the airport.
  19. On the subject of 1923 liveries, Caerphilly Castle, with the Collet coaches in the 1922 livery, is another trick, so far, missed.
  20. Should be ok, he doesn't appear to have any wellies.
  21. Bodmin Moor is pretty bleak, like Dartmoor, I would say that you have pretty much cracked it. Well done.
  22. I think the problem with doing Caerphilly in '23 livery, would be the requirement for a 3500 gallon tender. Easy enough as they have them for the 28xx and Star.
