Moderators AY Mod Posted November 2, 2022 Moderators Share Posted November 2, 2022 NEW MODELS ACROSS THE RANGES IN BACHMANN EUROPE’S WINTER 2022 BRITISH RAILWAY ANNOUNCEMENTS Bachmann Europe Plc today presented its final British Railway Announcements of 2022 with new products unveiled for all of Bachmann’s British-outline railway ranges. With more than a dozen new tooling or product upgrade projects already delivered during 2022, the Winter British Railway Announcements sees a trio of new tooling projects unveiled for delivery this year, along with further product upgrades and new liveries for existing models from Bachmann Branchline and Graham Farish. With the years new announcements dominated by OO and N scale, OO9 takes centre stage this Winter thanks to the Bachmann Narrow Gauge range and the introduction of the Mainline Hunslet locomotives. Depicting the trio of locomotives built for the Penrhyn Quarry Railway in North Wales, these large 0-4-0 saddle tanks build on the success of the award-winning Bachmann Narrow Gauge Double Fairlies first released twelve months ago. Charles, Linda and Blanche are all modelled faithfully, with locomotive- and era-specific detailing and liveries to capture each prototype authentically in miniature. Constructed with a diecast metal saddle tank, cylinder block, frames, footplate and chassis block, these powerful models are driven by a coreless motor and flywheel with all-wheel pick up, separate metal bearings on each axle and a Next18 DCC decoder socket with pre-fitted speaker. A new feature for OO9 scale is the firebox lighting which can be enjoyed when the separately fitted, hinged firebox door is posed in the open position. The three models will be available this November in standard or SOUND FITTED format. Bachmann Mainline Hunslet Topic. The Narrow Gauge theme continues in the Scenecraft range where the Ffestiniog Railway’s famous Harbour Station at Porthmadog is replicated in 4mm scale. The trio of buildings is available in two colour schemes. The Scenecraft range of finely detailed, hand-painted models is expanded with new N, OO and O scale releases too, with ‘Aidensfield Garage’ from the hit TV period drama ‘Heartbeat’ a highlight of the new N scale models. The Graham Farish N scale range welcomes new diesel locomotives this Winter with two Class 20s depicting No. 20064 ‘River Sheaf’ and No. 20172 ‘Redmire’. Class 31 No. 31309 ‘Cricklewood’ is also announced, whilst a quartet of Refurbished Class 31s makes up the latest round of Sales Area Exclusive models, each offered with our without SOUND FITTED and available only from retailers within specific areas of the country. Farish Winter 2022 Announcement topic. In OO scale the Bachmann Branchline Western Pullman has been produced in a new Train Pack. Featuring two SOUND FITTED power cars, the model accurately depicts one of the former Midland Pullman six-car units following their transfer to the Western Region. New liveries are seen on no fewer than four steam locomotive types, with the WD Austerity and BR Standard 9F both offered with SOUND FITTED for the first time – the latter having undergone upgrades to incorporate a Plux22 DCC decoder socket and a pre-fitted speaker to facilitate this. New liveries are introduced for the Class 158 DMUs, whilst a range of BR Maroon-liveried LNER Thompson Coaches is also arriving this Winter. New tooling has been created for Bachmann’s EFE Rail range; building on the success of the EFE Rail OO scale ‘Gate Stock’ coaches new LSWR Cross Country coaches have been developed and these will be offered in book sets. Each book set comprises three coaches and three liveries will be available. The third and final new tooling for this British Railway Announcements comes in the form of the OO scale ZCA ‘Sea Urchin’ Open Wagon, again from EFE Rail. Completing the line-up of new items for Winter 2022 are four new additions to Bachmann Europe’s Thomas & FriendsTM range including Edward the Blue Engine and Henry the Green Engine. Moving away from the tracks and Harold the Helicopter and Bertie the Bus are also new and arriving in time for Christmas 2022. Like all Bachmann products, these new items can only be purchased from Bachmann stockists, with the first release from the Winter 2022 British Railway Announcements due to arrive with stockists in the next two weeks. GreenGiraffe22
Really excited about those crosscountry sets! I've been hoping for them for ages, found several 1930s photos like this of them on the Brighton-Portsmouth route my layout is loosely based on: https://mikemorant.smugmug.com/Trains-Railways-British-Isles/SR-and-BRS/LBSCR-tender-locomotives/LBSCR-H2/i-FwgN3g6 Pity there's no olive but I'll take malachite and hopefully an olive set will appear next year! Also, Henry looks a little radioactive up there... Edited November 2, 2022 by GreenGiraffe22 Edited a sentence

SouthernMafia
Enjoyed the "How about some TT?" joke (TTTE that is) 158s - shame one of the liveries is almost identical to a previous release with the addition of the EXPRESS branding, I mean so many other liveries they could've done! Virgin 47 seriously tempting though. 2 2

Virgin 47 seriously tempting though. It'll depend on your area of interest. The EXPRESS 158 is a widespread livery that pretty much all must have carried. The previous release must have sold out and this will probably sell out before most other 158 liveries would too. Makes sense making the most of their new tooling they'll have invested heavily in

Virgin 47 seriously tempting though. Agreed about the 158s, especially when you attack them to get the Express branding done. Can still see this being popular and along comes the Yorkshire version that was just like when they were first released. Think they are missing out on doing a more current livery (Northern Blue and Purple / East Midlands Trains / TfW) but Bachmann might revert to type as they have always done with releases such as 37/47 and do retro / current / retro / current on a cycle for releases. Still just 3, which is the way Bachmann have always worked too... 47 is very tempting, as are some steam for a forthcoming project, but the price points now I suspect will really make people think twice. RMweb Gold MikeParkin65 Posted November 2, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 2, 2022 Love the enthusiasm coming from Barwell at the moment. Will be getting my Thompson order in pronto and the sound fitted WD is seriously tempting. Good to see the confidence in the excellent 9f against the newer competition.

Virgin 47 seriously tempting though. Express was the as delivered livery back in 1989. Regional Railways branding followed a few years later. The 158/9 in WYPTE will fit neatly here… as for range the 158/9’s did cover both sides of the penines coast to coast as did the WYPTE 155’s. I think theres more difference between them two and 32-819 47814 Totnes Castle that was also quite recent. RMweb Premium Tim Dubya Posted November 2, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) LSWR Sets, who'da thunk it?Out of my price range at RRP though, I shall have to be patient 🙂 I lied, BR(S) green set on order with Kernow. (other retailers are available [and some cheaper] but it's Kernow's turn for my cash, as MRD had my last pay packet). Thinking about it realistically, there's no chance I will be able to build these from kits to anywhere near this standard, let alone paint and letter the things! YAY! Using the M word the previous RR 158 can be backdated with Express branding pretty easily, a couple have been on eBay. It will still sell I'm sure, just saying something a bit different would've been nice! Arriva, TfW, FGW, EMR, SWT, SWR, Alphaline, Northern, Central Trains, First North Western etc - so many to choose from. The Virgin 47 on the new tool is welcome. 47845 looks good for renumbering to 47805 and 47840 as sealed beam at both ends. 47814 was an odd choice with its extended yellow sides and required very careful work or a repaint to remove it.
