Proper comfy seats - memories of rattling down the coastway and up to Victoria.

Note to the modelers out there, 313002 has a second third rail shoe on the inner bogie and the 'lunchbox' covers over the roof vents, no longer carried today by what is now 313202.

It zigged when it should have zagged! An interesting photo of something different, with lots of nice, incidental detail (like the signals) for modellers to study.

There certainly is plenty of detail to inspire modellers of the third rail.  Now, has anyone modelled a derailment I wonder?!

I've been away from this site for a while, so I've missed out on this thread, but do these count?

Two LNER-built 3rd-rail North Tyneside electrics at Newcastle on 6th May 1967, shortly before the line to the coast was turned over completely to DMUs. Also on the left a 2-coach DMU is awaiting departure for Alnwick (!) if the headboard is correct. (The Tyne & Wear metro trains now link Newcastle to the coast using much of the ex-BR route and stations and this part of Central Station is now a car park!)

Normally used on suburban services, the class 377/6 gets the opportunity to spread their wings at the weekend on London - Brighton fasts. 377625 heads a southbound service at speed.

Middle of the afternoon if you can believe it down Bognor Regis where the Sussex Coast has just been plunged into a dark red darkness at half two in the afternoon courtesy of a Saharan dust storm!!!

This pic was taken yesterday (20th October 2017) at the Spa Valley Diesel Gala and Real Ale Festival. The 3-CIG EMU was 'powered' by a class 31 diesel (on the non-electrified line):

I remember spending a cold February day around 2000 chasing de-icer trains around the Southern network with the help of a copy of the working timetable that my mate got hold of!
