Wagons Also Spin

Actually that's a lie because although last night saw the wagon turntable installed it is permanently fixed in line with the main siding.     The outer slots are from when the turntable would have been broad gauge. Information that I have been able to locate suggests that the castings that formed the outer ring were hacked on site when the gauge conversion was made.     The wood deck is removable for the moment to facilitate painting. Calshot MkII - 009 Diesel Critter

As I'm sure some of you will be aware, I have started construction of a freelance diesel (009) for Calshot. It is based on the Knightwing kitbash that I started a while ago and never got round to finishing. The chassis is from a Dapol M7, but it looks as though i'll have to add some lead weight in both bonnets. Not much has changed on Knucklesford, some more track has gone down, mainly the goods spur, that's still in progress... New (old) Tender Drive for 93000

Over the last few days I have been putting together this for my "Missing" Standard 8F:     Basically the chinese built 5 pole tender drive was incompatible with Peco code 75 turnouts, the 3 way especially. Hythe Parkway - Extension Track Laying Finished

Barrow Road Update 6

The new floor for the roundhouse has been used as a template to cut out the turntable pit and the inspection pits using a router. At the same time all the pits outside the shed have been cut as have the four inside the Workshop - a total of 38.   I need to add a few more pieces of 6.5mm ply under the turntable to strengthen this area - in the meantime I must remember not to lean on this area of the board!   Here are a couple of photos showing the result. A starting point

Op 14t Open Wagon Part 3 – Side Stanchions

Some more work completed on the Op wagon progressing slowly to getting one side of the body “nearly†complete. One sides worth of stanchions have been fabricated and located along the body side. These were made using 2mm dia. brass tube with a 0.25mm brass wire looped and soldered into the tube. I managed to find some time to week to resume work on the luggage van. After several phone calls to the Sithlord up in Longreach, I made an attempt on the roof. With no previous experience with rolling brass, I was a bit hesitant to start with. To get the main curve of the roof I used a piece of 20mm diameter steel pipe and rolled it on a computer mouse mat. It's finished at last!!!   Well the 5,250gl tender destined for for Matt's (Bluebell Railway's) OO version of 34059 Sir Archibald Sinclair is at least. After a slight technical issue, Vallejo's Satin Varnish is glossy compared to Railmatch's. After giving the sides a light rub down with 1200 grit wet and dry, I've oversprayed with Railmatch Satin Varnish. I'd forgotten how much fun it is riding a BMX...   Down at Paxton Road today 37013 had arrived from Didcot.   So of course I've not actually ridden my BMX for over 5 years! But I've been tinkering on Paxton Road this evening. After my experiment with Carr's Steel Blackening on Nickel Silver rail I applied it to the rails on Paxton Road. A worthwhile transformation? I'll let you make your mind up - I think it's worth it - it definitely takes the golden tinge off the rail surface.

I went to the BGS Berks Area Group open day this morning and picked up a Greenmax kit for £3 of what is claimed on the side of the box to be "Japanese Buses & cars for N gauge" dispite the picture showing council refuse/cleaning vehicles. Now that Steinrücken is a running layout, the opportunity to play trains is not to be missed.
