I expect to spend some more time uncomfortably kneeling on the baseboard re-jigging fiddle yard/storage sidings again. I have completed four sidings for Padstow, and three for Torrington are more or less there, but three for Bude are very inconveniently located and thus I will be up on top, below a very low beamed ceiling in my circa-1850 barn. My back does not enjoy this stuff.

I will be at low level cleaning the garden railway rails this morning. My back doesnt enjoy this either:(

The garage needs tidying up. After four weeks of dry weather, the piles of logs that were cut up when we had some felling done last year and have been seasoning outside are now ready to me moved to the wood store (in the afore mentioned garage).

On loco number 17 today and yesterday, giving them all a 2020 service and DCC decoder renumber, with a detailed performance tune-up.  Mostly relaxing, although this rebuilt Battle of Britain is proving difficult to clean the loco pick-ups., they are rather difficult to access and the axle retaining plate doesn't want to budge.

I might just place it back in the box for another day.

I decided to fit a SWD Loksound to my Class 153 yesterday........wish I hadn’t bothered now.......all went really well, a very easy fitment with the flying 8 pin lead plugged in the decoder and speaker can be black tacked to the inside of the roof completely out of sight.......brilliant I thought.......until I put it on the programming track, all seemed good when renumbered to “153”.........then on main track to test out the SWD functions and have a play.

Oh dear......without sound turned on the Loco went well one way and then reverse direction and off we go with sound on....eh....I haven’t turned it on yet! The. Noticed when the sound turns on the lights go on also, without turning the function on :o  by this time I was feeling a bit confused, back on the programming track and decided to try a reset as per instructions CV to value 8.......back on track and exactly the same result......arghhh, so return requested from Rails, cannot be arsed with fiddling with these things.

Other wise everything went well yesterday :(

I washed both cars this morning. Seems like the local birds had been using mine for target practice.

I have the same problem - we live on the coast, seagulls mess is not the easiest to clean off !!

No, definitely not......I always triple check before inserting the plug......got caught once before

Also the chip performs the same odd tricks when put on a separate decoder tester.

Clarification of the lockdown rules:
(unashamedly stolen)

1. You MUST NOT leave the house for any reason, but if you have a reason, you can leave the house.

2. Masks are useless at protecting you against the virus, but you may have to wear one because it can save lives, but they may not work, but they may be mandatory, but maybe not.

3. Shops are closed, except those shops that are open.

4. You must not go to work but you can get another job and go to work.

5. You should not go to the Doctor's or to the hospital unless you have to go there, unless you are too poorly to go there.

6. This virus can kill people, but don’t be scared of it. It can only kill those people who are vulnerable or those people who are not vulnerable. It’s possible to contain and control it, sometimes, except that sometimes it actually leads to a global disaster.

7. Gloves won't help, but they can still help so wear them sometimes, or not.

8. STAY HOME, but it's important to go out.

9. There is no shortage of groceries in the supermarkets, but there are many things missing. Sometimes you won’t need loo rolls but you should buy some just in case you need some.

10. The virus has no effect on children except those children it affects.

11. Animals are not affected, but there was a cat that tested positive in Belgium in February when no one had been tested, plus a few tigers here and there…

12. Stay 2 metres away from tigers (see point 11).

13. You will have many symptoms if you get the virus, but you can also get symptoms without getting the virus, get the virus without having any symptoms or be contagious without having symptoms, or be non contagious with symptoms...it's a sort of lucky/unlucky dip.

14. To help protect yourself you should eat well and exercise, but eat whatever you have on hand as it's better not to go to the shops, unless you need toilet roll or a fence panel.

15. It's important to get fresh air but don't go to parks but go for a walk. But don’t sit down, except if you are old, but not for too long or if you are pregnant or if you’re not old or pregnant but need to sit down. If you do sit down don’t eat your picnic, unless you've had a long walk, which you are/aren't allowed to do if you're old or pregnant.

16. Don’t visit old people but you have to take care of the old people and bring them food and medication.

17. If you are sick, you can go out when you are better but anyone else in your household can’t go out when you are better unless they need to go out.

18. You can get restaurant food delivered to the house. These deliveries are safe. But groceries you bring back to your house have to be decontaminated outside for 3 hours including frozen pizza.

19. You can't see your older mother or grandmother, but they can take a taxi and meet an older taxi driver.

20. You are safe if you maintain the safe social distance when out but you can’t go out with friends or strangers at the safe social distance.

21. The virus remains active on different surfaces for two hours ... or four hours...or six hours... I mean days, not hours. But it needs a damp environment. Or a cold environment that is warm and dry... in the air, as long as the air is not plastic.

22. Schools are closed so you need to home educate your children, unless you can send them to school because you’re not at home. If you are at home you can home educate your children using various portals and virtual class rooms, unless you have poor internet, or more than one child and only one computer, or you are working from home. Baking cakes can be considered maths, science or art. If you are home educating you can include household chores within their education. If you are home educating you can start drinking at 10am.

23. If you are not home educating children you can also start drinking at 10am.

24. The number of corona related deaths will be announced daily but we don't know how many people are infected as they are only testing those who are almost dead to find out if that's what they will die of. The people who die of corona who aren’t counted, won’t or will be counted but maybe not.

25. We should stay in locked down until the virus stops infecting people but it will only stop infecting people if we all get infected so it’s important we get infected and some don’t get infected.

26. You can join your neighbours for a street party and turn your music up for an outside disco and your neighbours won’t call the police. People in another street are allowed to call the police about your music whilst also having a party which you are allowed to call the police about.

27. No business will go down due to Coronavirus except those businesses that will go down due to Coronavirus.

Hope that makes things clearer for you?

Codicil; Shops are open, except for those shops which are not open and those which are also closed.

This is advisable at all times, not just during lockdown.  If you are self isolating with a tiger, irrespective of whether it has coronavirus, you will probably never be able to read this, so take good notice...

Or not.  Best not to get pregnant, and I have thus far managed to achieve this.

It's better to start drinking at 10am the previous day; avoid hangovers by drinking continuously.  Children should be educationally employed to do your ballasting for you, which will teach them all they'll ever need to know about boredom.

This doesn't matter unless you get infected, in which case it doesn't matter any more. Not mattering any more is not the same as not mattering, unless it is, in which case it, um, is...

Those comments aside, you seem to have a pretty good handle on it.  Wipe this handle scrupulously after each use with a clean cloth and a disinfectant spray, then burn the clean cloth in a hospital incinerator but don't go out to go to the hospital to do this; mail it to them in a jiffy bag so they can relieve the stress by popping the bag.

Hope that makes things even clearer for everyone!

St-st-st-stay safe, folks!  (if you really are going stir crazy amuse yourself by trying to say st-st-st-stay as fast as you can while still sounding the t; that'll keep you going till bed time...).  Observe double social isolating while you do this.

When I came to tidy the garage, I remembered that I had a load of scrap timber to saw and split for kindling That delayed tings somewhat so I only managed to shift half of the first log pile. I needed a rest anyway. The rest of the pile was shifted and stacked this morning. The second pile can wait until next year! We call it a garage, the locals refer to them sheds probably because they very rarely see a car inside them. We can still fit the car in with plenty of space to spare despite the 'shed' also housing kayaks, mower, strimmer, other garden equipment, roof racks, ladders. timber, workbench and anything else for which we can't find another home. And, of course, the bikes. At one time we kept a boat in there as well! Time to think about lunch, Steph has gone off to deliver one lot of scrubs and to pick up more material for the next batch. She doesn't know if she is needed at the hospital this week as the two nurses that were off with the virus have been declared safe to return to work.

One of my sons works at a wildlife sanctuary. They are closed to the public but animal feeding, welfare and horticultural maintenance continues. I think the wildlife are enjoying the lack of visitors.

He arrived this morning, and was welcomed by these two....

Took the car out for a short run today, (only 5 or 6 miles) it hasn't been started for 4 weeks, thought it needed a run to keep it up to scratch.

I don't think I was spotted by the rozzers :jester:

I went in a triangular route with food shops at each apex, just in case.;)

Yes, I was thinking about doing that. My car has been idle for just over 3 weeks and if I drive it around in a decent circular route and then come home again, I don't see how I am going to affect anyone.

A different sort of culture here. At the bottom of the page is a ballet clip, mainly of solo dancers anywhere but on stage! Smiffy, an Early Risers contributor, had posted it on Facebook.
