RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted January 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 5, 2019 Surprisingly I have very few 33's in my photo collection. 33012 at an Old Oak Common open day on a rare moment when there was no one between camera lens and loco: BR Class 33/0 33012 - Old Oak Common by John Upton, on Flickr 33207 on a Railtour in Horsham of all places: West Coast Railways Class 33/2 33207 Horsham 5/7/14 by John Upton, on Flickr 33207 again at London Victoria: West Coast Railways Class 33/2 33207 London Victoria 9/5/14 by John Upton, on Flickr
RMweb Gold Popular Post C126 Posted May 22, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 22, 2019 Having completed scanning and labelling my first batch of photos, I hope they might be of use to some readers of this site, and are an inadequate 'thank you' from me to many others on this web-site for their rather better, informative, and often inspiring shots. Alas, I was let down by being 'not very good', wearing spectacles, and having a cheap camera, but they are, at least, a record of events. 33 211 11th April, 1988, 09.11. Lewes. 33 009 20th December, 1988, 12.36. Lewes. 33 023+33 060, 18th February, 1988, 13.24. Lewes. 33 011, January 1988, Somewhere near Barnham, I think, racing along from Brighton to Bristol Temple Meads. I hope these are of interest, and I will post some more later. Thanks.

RMweb Gold C126 Posted June 11, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 11, 2019 Dear all, Just a quick note to say I have subscribed as a 'Gold' user to allow me to up-load my photos to galleries, and have started putting what pictures I have labelled under the various headings. Most are mediocre at best, but as I said in the galleries' introduction, I hope the information is of interest and use at least to a few. It saves clogging these message threads with images. Thanks. Er.... isn’t this clearly labelled as a photo thread, as are many others, and popular they are too. Quality isn’t the issue, it about nostalgia for past times. That said will certainly be interested in a gallery.
Nearholmer
Yes, the “head out of the window” photo above may not win prizes for technical quality, but it’s one of the best “takes you back to being there” picture that i’ve seen in a long time. You can hear it, feel it, smell it even. My “head out of the window” period was a good while before 1988, when it was taken, but still ...... 2
Owd Bob
A few taken on a cheap 110 film camera. 33 109 at a very wet and dull Weymouth Quay. 6-7-80. And a couple of head out the window shots of 33061 on a 'Merrymaker' cheap day tour to Margate and Ramsgate from the Manchester area. It left Atherton Station at daft and dark 'o'clock am behind an unknown class 40 which was changed for a unknown class 86 at Wigan N.W. The class 33 took over somewhere north of London, probably near Wembley? 33 061 backs onto the mk1 coaches. Head out the window at Margate.

So that's where the motor show is held. It is true that loco changes between the WCML and SR frequently occurred at Mitre Bridge however the photo showing the 33 backing onto the train is not there. It is on the up relief line alongside Wembley yard. The WCML slow and fast lines are on the right. The electrically hauled express is on the up fast. Nearholmer
Agreed - the loco would be coming onto the other end, with the main line on the left, if it was Mitre Bridge.

On one notable Sunday AM in 1982 ISTR, a 33 was booked to Watford to pick up a Margate bound excursion - my mate was rostered to work the southbound leg as far as Gillingham and I went along for the ride (as a legitimate member of staff of course - checking the DC Lines conductor rails ………………… 8-)

Correct. 33036 and 33043 were the locos involved. 33036 was withdrawn whereas 33043 was repaired.
