Spitfire2865
"scrapyard condition loco" "Professionally weathered and detailed" "Will look great on any layout" "£45" It says for 'Wood, metal, stone or concrete' on the label, nothing about plastic. In fairness, it doesnt say "Not suitable for plastic"

RMweb Premium newbryford Posted August 8, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 8, 2015 (edited) It looks as if it was a peak, now it's a flat Andi Hi Badge I was thinking on those lines but all the Mainline Peaks I have were made in blue plastic. I would agree that it's a Peak - large distinctive fan grille at the far end and the remains of the large square box over the steam heat boiler at the near. Not entirely certain that of the original colour of plastic, the lower edges are blue. However, I'm not guessing because I don't want to win. RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted August 8, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 8, 2015 All 3 of you win! 1/3 each.... Its a Bacchy peak.... tamperman36
You could have tried sand blasting, may have still had 3 dimensions instead of just 2 dimensions. It reminds me of a miss hap that occured when I was working in a builders merchant hardware company, we recieved an order for 15 litres of a certain strong paint stripper ( comes in green cans and starts with N ). We packaged up 3, 5 litre cans and put them on the parcel carriers truck. The rear door was then closed, however it did NOT lock and whilst the carrier was driving along a busy main road the rear door opened and out came the paint stripper. Unfortunatley the car following had just left the new car showroom and it hit the 3 cans full on and covered the bonnet, windscreen and roof leaving the car needing a full respray and several replacement windows, OOPS! Thats good paint stripper .

I trust he will not damage it. Amongst the things I was thinking about was “who would scrap a Bachy Peak". That priming job must have been something. Wot ya done with the under gubbins? OK Clive will pass on your share to Andi Was a really thick gloop job - the bodyside grilles were full of it Chassis sat there waiting for a body shell to become available - afraid we still haven't got enough peaks to run the timetable... D125 is next on the hit list I think... Phil

RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted August 9, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 9, 2015 Hi Phil Thank you. D125, wasn't she one of the eco-green engines? Ah not sure I have seen her like that Clive - is there a photo? She had a shunt in the early 70s so avoided me for a good while - was the last Peak I needed - its BFYE for us But will have to wait in the queue behind any new Warships.... darrel
I was just about to mention the GBL peak. Still not done mine yet. There are a few interior walls that need removing other than that should be an easy job. Edited August 9, 2015 by darrel

RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted August 9, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) Is the GBL Peak suitable as a replacement? Interesting though Phil If I am reading the photos correctly then GBL have done that as a sealed beam nose end? The existing Bacchy D55 is a pretty good match for us - centre split box headcodes , we can correct bodyside grilles and boiler filler footsteps so I suspect we will just wait for one to come along... Many thanks Phil Edited August 9, 2015 by Phil Bullock
