Barclay
That Hobby Holidays 179 stuff is particularly nice to use - very 'wet' for want of a better term! 1 4

I see that this is 2% silver. In another thread, somebody mentioned how nice the 2% silver formulation flowed, so I'll try some of that. From memory, the old multicore savbit included some copper, to prevent tip erosion,
RMweb Premium Popular Post Michael Edge Posted September 18, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 18, 2023 The F1 is finally finished, last job was the smokebox door so I can now put on here a photo from the front . This hasn't been an easy job, not helped by the Jidenco kit not being complete but it looks right and runs well. 23 1

Michael, That is VERY nice indeed - shows that Jidenco / Falcon Brass kits are not beyond redemption; contrary to oft-received opinion! RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted September 18, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 18, 2023 A short video to show that huge frame cutouts round bogie wheels are not neceessary. This shows the loco running round my vicious 28" radius reverse curve, it is a pure reverse curve incidentally, no straight bit in the middle. "Designed" on the basis that if it will go round this it will be OK on almost anything.

RMweb Premium Popular Post Michael Edge Posted September 20, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 20, 2023 Another job finished today. This New Zealand Hillside Tr in 1:48 scale has been on the bench for quite a long time, it's a test etch build for a kit from Glenorchy Models. I wasn't going to power it but fitting one of these n20 motors is really quick and easy. This is one of the higher geared ones, runs just about right speed with approximately 2:1 reduction spur gears. The final drive gear can be slid along the axle to disconnect the drive if required. 22 1 1

I think it looks very fine Michael a great job given the difficulties of the Jidenco KIt. I am building an Adams T6 4-40 at the moment, also from Jidenco.... RMweb Premium Popular Post Michael Edge Posted October 21, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 21, 2023 I only did an hour or so on this yesterday. Frame etch is OK but the "00" spacers were more than 13mm wide - far too much for these Markits wheels - so it has some of mine. I'm not going to build this tiny 0-4-0 rigid so the frames were modified with my usual compensation system. Two hefty brass beams pivoted as far forward as I could get form swinging arms to carry the leading axle which can rock under a knife edge. The pivot pins can be seen in the first photo just above the guard irons, these are far too long but easily shortened. Back to this on Monday. 14 2 2

Yes please to more details . I assume the swinging beams rotate around the fulcrum of the pins . I guess therefore that the height/depth of the knife edge is critical ? How do you determine the measurement ? Thanks
