Doesn't AS already make a 37, one that doesn't make a screeching 🤣 sound?

I'm after one that makes a whistling sound. Not like Roger Whittaker did though.

Is that a little announcement Friday as in tomorrow or Friday of Model Rail Scotland?

Looking forward to something new! Hopefully nothing that's being retooled by someone else.

Honestly, these days, it’s impossible to know :)

We have an extensive roadmap and right now there are over a dozen powered models past the point of no return and unannounced. If another manufacturer announces them or already has after we passed that point there isn’t much we can do except perhaps avoid directly duplicating numbers / liveries (which can be done right up to about 9 months before delivery).

Tomorrows announcement tho has not been announced by anyone else though. ;)

Well you can be sure that no other manufacturer has the Stanier and Fowler 2-6-2t s in their crosshairs - else they would have been announced and produced by now.  OK I'll add my hobbyhorse Fowler Austin Seven 0-8-0 and GWR Aberdare and maybe the delightful MSWJ 2-6-0 and the LBSC "K".

Surely a GWR Aberdare would sell as many units, if not many more, than an obscure 1950s era type 1 diesel ?

By the way, that is not a criticism of your company "McC"

Fantastic! It's going to be Accurascale 009 of the Welshpool and Llanfair engines and stock! 😂

I'm expecting a second batch of something...or maybe a wagon. There's usually a bit more fanfare for a new tooling loco such as a link to a video that goes live at a certain point.

Sounds like the industry needs an Ombudsman who can say ' Don't bother with that, someone else has started work on it.' at the appropriate time ........ I'd be happy to take on that onerous role - for a small backhander fee.

I note the avoidance of the word locomotive. Fingers crossed for a DMU...?

Problem with that is that any attempt to control what each company produces or any collusion between to prevent duplication will be regarded by the authorities in the form of the Competition Commission (us oldies know it better as the Monopolies Commission) as restrictive marketing practice and against the public interest, not to mention defrauding of shareholders.  The more 'nudge nudge wink wink' and back room shennanigans it is, the heavier the Inquisition will come down on it.

So, it you are a model railway RTR manufacturer, you play your cards close to your chest until it is too late to cancel production anyway, and then cross your fingers and announce.  As new production of models hitherto unavailable but which are low-hanging fruit by today's standards in that they score highly in wishlisting competition is a bit speculative, and the market can easily change in the period between planning a model and announcing it, as well as between announcing and bringing it to market, I do not begrudge the manufacturers their profit margins!

One hopes, and so far sees no evidence, that AC regard new models in the same light as Bamann, who will announce twenty new items that are actually ten different liveries od one item available in DC and DCC.  The 31 is of course duplication in the full knowledge of existing models, and addresses what AC must consider to be a demand for an improved tooling, a somewhat less speculative situation.

If any 'never-before-seen-in-4mm-RTR' items (which for practical purposes in the current hobby and market should probabl;y include Triang and HD/Wrenn stuff, looking at you, Loti, Deans, Caley 123 & coaches, GW cod-Collett restaurant car, and R1) are included in McC's  'over a dozen past the point of no return and unannounced' (as yet) list, they will probably be near the top of McD's wishlist polls.  My crystal ball is broken, and the models are past the point ot no return anyway, so further wishlisiting is pointless and irrelevant, but high scorers may be an indication.  I am of the opinion that AC and Rapido, both of whom have staff 'in the know' who post on this site and must be fully aware of the high scorers, are influenced by the wishlist competition and by our comments here, and I reckon Dapol are as well but they don't communicate in the same way.  Dapol and Hornby have other fish to fry and are probably not much interests in our ideas; they come up with their own market research and decide what will turn them what they call in Dublin a 'wee bobeen'.

So, gentlemen, you know what I want, (flings arms wide in dramatic gesture), so, now go do that voodoo that you do so well!!!

I could be tempted by such a modern contraption, WR allocated of course.

Out of intrest as accurascale have taken some hattons items how far along was the self propelled track crane project and could this be a contender at some point in the future. With selectable dcc controled drive on site which is disconnected for movement by train🤔🤪

Is the rumour true that you are going to produce a working 4mm scale model of a British Rail BLT sandwich, with DCC sound?

No need for collusion, TBF. Every occupation has a totally unofficial  "grapevine" underpinning it.

People move around within the r-t-r industry and the modelling press, probably more now than in the past, as there are so many more potential employers.

At least some knowledge of "work in progress" at the time of transfer will inevitably accompany them and folk also socialise/network with trade contacts and erstwhile colleagues at exhibitions etc. (In vino veritas).

The only surprise, perhaps, is how seldom any of that information becomes common currency.

I’m hoping for some 25kv EMU’s, the more modern the better 😀

Though I’d be happy with some AM4’s too.

Perhaps we'll be getting a GWR slip coach with a stay alive capacitor in it so under DCC you can release the coach and then gently coast it to a stop in a platform.... 😂
