The show will also be graced with the presence of Alan Buttler and his brilliant Modelu business. I am very much looking forward to catching up with Alan, here is the last time we met up - at Jerry's excellent Warminster show in the summer of 2019.

Alan doesn't know it yet, but Steve Harrod and I have come up with a great new product for his range(!) We intend to bring this historic artefact and get it scanned for posterity, I certainly want a couple for my new garden line....

Is it one of those hair dryers you used to see in ladies salons....

On a personal note, I'm trying to decide on an outfit to get myself scanned in.

Huh!

At least this didn't require someone to lug it for miles along a disused trackbed and pull his back for the privilege!

I was fortunate to see Pete Kirmonds model of York in its early, mock up stage and was hugely impressed by the impact. The idea is that the overall roof is effectively peeled open on the entrance side allowing the viewer to peer in. The concept is innovative, the visual impact simply stunning and Larkrail will be the first time the model will have been seen in public, as a work in progress, before its full debut at the York show next Easter.

All good character forming stuff mon brave - and look what a character you turned out to be!

Pictured with other "characters" at Larkrail, including the much missed Grahame Hitchen, showing impeccable taste in carrier bags in the background(!) For the record, John Farmer, Tim Woodland, Tim Maddocks, Grahame Hitchen and Chris Foren.

I can also confirm that the hall is not only booked, but also paid for - so the show absolutely has to go ahead!!

More to come....

Aylesbury duck overshoe?

There were a couple sat on top of a pole opposite that Indian restauraunt in Aylesbury last time I did railex. You know... the Indian opposite the duck pond.

Funnily enough I do need some lights for my 1960's level crossing.

Those coming from Limpley Stoke via Short Wood will be pleased to know that not only will the damsons be ripe but these chaps are busy reinstating the bridge over the Titfield - Mallingford line* in good time for the show, so there is no need to cross the line by the not so nearest bridge.

That shortcut just might make the trip viable from the darkest recesses of the North East. Thanks for the heads up.

P.s.  Do they still sell Watney's red barrel in the south or will I have to drink Devenish?

I don't think they ever 'sold' Red Barrel in the South.  They tried giving it away and that didn't work either.

Probably, we only drink cider from a barrel in Radstock, apparently to celebrate the Jubbly we're getting electric but I don't trust it myself.

Phew! That's a relief. It must have been a dream.

That fact means it might be safe to travel.

Aye, in the north, we celebrated the Jubbly yesterday anall lyke. I think it was an anniversary of the withdrawal from sale.

We were allowed to wash our feet in warm water and use the phrase "toy train".

Had a walk down the Whittle line last night, to check on the gooseberries, probably not the best year, but there will be enough to brighten the winter months with fruit crumbles…hopefully the good Mr PMP will have represented the gooseberry bushes of Whittle in his hedgerows…

I thought about being a railwayman but in the end opted for a gardener, pottering on the allotment down by Bath Junction with a ringside view of all the comings and goings sounds like heaven to me. This is the sort of look I'll be going for - I'm on the lookout for suitable attire.

The Radco has closed, so I'm not sure where you might find such garments.... unless the museum can help?

I'm not sure I should get a 4mm version of myself, there are some 4mm figures on my layouts already, who I have badly wronged.

Several loco drivers, who had parts of their lower legs amputated, just to fit on my 4mm footplates. Almost everyone has had a hole drilled up their leg and a brass spigot shoved in. None of this work was done under any kind of anaesthetic. It's hard to imagine that they won't still hold a bit of a grudge.

Looks like they're dressed in preparation for a Frida neet on the pull. They must be Radstock chaps.  (Good to see that at least one of them seems to be a believer in the belt & braces technique).
