Class 50, By Accurascale

Recommended Posts

I’ve got 2 on order but so tempted with 50017. I remember seeing her go past me at Saltley in that livery thinking ‘what the hell’. Was the first NSE I saw, a bit of a shock after large logo!

Are there any plans for other suprised in this batch?

and all of a sudden it's 1968 again - that is nice ............................................... 👍

Bear in mind these are still decorated samples, not fully finished models.

of course - that terrible raised roof panel (I'm sure it's there somewhere) - I was forgetting 🤣

Just couldn't resist ordering "Neptune" after seeing the PP sample

I'm sure all those niggles will be sorted for the production models.

The literal point of pre-production samples :)

For a transition era LMR modeller that looks very very tempting.

Well done Accurascale to think the production versions will be even better !!!!

The challenge is to make them "hoover" !!!

They weren't hoovers on the WCML. Me and my mates called them "DP2s" to differentiate them from the other EE Type 4s that had been knocking around for years. Then when I was doing my BR training at Kingmoor the staff called them "bleeps" because of the unique sound of the DSD.

So will the MU covers on the front be able to be taken off

if you want to fit jumper cables.

I'd like to know that as well. I've ordered D423 as this is the livery and numbering  I remember on the 50s, but MU cables were fitted as they ran in multiple on the WCML.

Been answered at least once, the jumpers will be in a bag to apply if you want

The Class 50 looks too "naked" without those front MU cables. I guess I'm too accustomed with the revised look.

I think they looked much more elegant with the clean front as built.

Both styles are historically accurate

Or there's this livery, found on Fickr

Was a 50 ever in Thomas the Tank engine?

Probably too new?

Al.

I don’t think there was a Class 50 but a HST makes an appearance in one of the later books. I seem to remember Christopher Audrey kept writing them into the 1990s

Hi, thanks MCC, I am planning to pre order D423 and renumber it is D403 as I am trying to create a scene when D403 was the trading loco at Lostock Hall in early 1968. Fred
