RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted April 5 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 5 Morning all, Yes, spoke to Tim yesterday evening. He is off for a works visit for some long overdue essential maintenance a few days before so will be unable to attend with Bethesda. Obviously very much missed on the day but it remains incumbent on us to ensure that Tim is able to monitor proceedings from his bath chair on the veranda. I'm sure he will be in good hands. Rob. 1 12

RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted April 7 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 7 (edited) Morning all, Gwen tells us that three weeks today, Staplegrove Village Hall with be a hive of activity as we will all be working out if things will fit and what we have collectively forgotton. The Crack Catering Team are limbering up for what we hope will be a grand day out and the Special Retailing Executive are poised like coiled cobras to extract visitors funds in exchange for a selection of quality previously enjoyed items. Today's featured layout transports us to Ben Ashworth’s domain, The Forest of Dean. Alex, aka @wiggoforgold has produced a number of fine layouts over the years and his ex Great Eastern modelling is another inspiration behind my own East Anglian interests and my build of Ewe, my nod to the Wisbech and Upwell. Back to SWAG though and Lydbrook Dean is Alex's take on the FoD and features typical foresty motive power in the form of the ubiquitous Pannier tanks and more recently, a Class 14. Alex built trees feature heavily along with some quite stunning rock faces ( again Alex's own work ) and it all combines to provide a lovely rendition of yet another railway system and an assiciated way of life lost to "progress"....... Learning from Alex's previous layouts, Lydbrook is more easily transported across the rear seats of a family car as it folds upon itself. Another feature of Alex's layouts are the way in which he depicts colour and in the same way as Martyn @mullie, Alex has quite his own style and pallette. So, like all our layouts, there is much to ask about and much to be inspired by on Lydbrook. Edited April 7 by NHY 581 25 2
