When working at the Japanese car factory I saw a couple of incidents where wood and plastics caused both pedestal and hand angle grinder wheels to go pop, both ended with the user needing medical attention and in one case a change of underwear. Needless to say, I have a range of grinding wheels, flap wheels, cutting disks and living in a boat building area the correct type are easily available. The speed will be set in accordance to that written on the disk. In this case it's actually not a grinding disk, but a flapwheel, as I'm horizontally smoothing off the inside of a fibreglass reinforced section of hull, prior to painting. Also, it's overalls, respirator, goggles, leather gloves and a hat.. Operations continue in 15 minutes after this tea break.
RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2019 Good morning everyone Well it isn’t raining and the skies, although aren’t blue, they aren’t grey either. There’s not a lot planned for the day as we have Mike and Sarah popping round for tea. They’ll get here mid afternoon so there doesn’t seem much point in starting any big jobs yet, as I’m still tending to Sheila’s eye, but there are only a few more days (Jan 2) until it comes to an end. So a day spent surfing the “net” might be the order of the day and perhaps a few more kits will be ordered from MERG. Enjoy the day, back later.
RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 28, 2019 Good morning ERs. I have temporarily surfaced after an interval for Ewell Yule and Fesitvas. Most of that time was spent either asleep or trying to sleep and dealing with a monstrous cold which caused unfeasible amounts of liquid to pour from facial orifices, various. We did manage to drive to my sister's in Sussex for the Day (and a night on her sofas) though apparently I spent much of my time there also asleep and being somewhat less than sociable. I do remember that a turkey was sacrificed along with large quantities of appropriate accompaniments. Nephew the Youngest made a trifle in a tradition he chose to inherit when mother, who had always done that, passed away. There was a rotund pudding and the cheeseboard which we provided was, by general consent, held back until later in the afternoon. I do remember driving there and back and I certainly remember the traffic on the way back. We met stationary traffic south of Leatherhead on the A24 and remained in the queue for over 2 hours until we reached Hampton Court around 20 miles farther on. I avoided the usual route via Maldon Rushett and Chessington as we came off the Leatherhead by-pass because I could see it was another line of stationary traffic. Instead I took the road via Oxshott and Esher to the Scilly Isles roundabout which was every bit as bad. The House of Fun was attended yesterday as scheduled and will be again come Moan-day. Having returned the hired car this morning I have only to await the supermarket delivery at 4.30 and can otherwise return to resting, perhaps sleeping, in the hopes of a recovery. The cold is dead. Long live the (return of the) chesty cough. Best wishes to one and all.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2019 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bin day today, and the bin wagons dawn chorus started before dawn and all the bin bags had gone over an hour ago. When I looked out early this morning about six there was a bit of fog but it has now gone. Yesterday when I went for my new gilet I was accompanied by my friend with his young son and his brother. I picked them up at Pitsea Tess Coes and went to Rayleigh via the A127. As it turned out the A127 was closed from the Wickford turn-off to the A130 where we joined it, so an easy run down to Rayleigh Weir. The youngster was intending to spend his Christmas money in Smythes but he managed to leave it at home. Tea to be drunk, be back later.

Interesting you get cramps with Bisoprolol, KZ - something that has started happening to me, in one foot (not the bad one), sometimes at the most inappropriate moments. As I also changed to another drug (Candesartan) at around the same time I need to isolate which one is causing it. And to add a note of humour to what is a reasonably serious debate, I once felt the need to lower the bilges reduce the bladder level so quietly excused myself from the social gathering I was attending at that time and made my way to a small room dedicated for the relief of Mafeking indisposed gentlemen. Having duly got the pipe out of the trousers, I started the prime purpose of my visit when my right thigh went into a spasm caused by cramp. I didn’t wish to alert all and sundry, nor did I wish to wash down the walls or me so I had to suffer quietly until the bladder was drained and I could then do the contortions required to ease the tightness. Luckily no one else came in at the same time or I may never have raised the ugly countenance in public ever again. 1
Popular Post AndrewC
Good day all from the boring borough. Day 5 of not venturing out of the house. Today’s original plans cancelled as neither of us could be arsed. Funny enough the same thing happened yesterday and on Thursday. This is day 44 of the cough from hell. It seems to get better for a few days then comes back with a vengeance. I wish it would just fork off already. It has been a very quiet and do little week as we are both really run down. Not really that much to say. Catching up on ERs it seems that everyone had a good festivus. Enjoy the day 1

Last year I gained a cough following a cold which took eight months and two visits to the doctor to shift. They got as far as booking a hospital appointment in case it didn't clear but of course with that on the calendar it promptly cleared up! Here's hoping our coughs are not as troublesome this time around. 2 1 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 28, 2019 Afternoon all. HH can rest assured the large muddy hollow (sud) shows no sign of drying up. We had an excellent afternoon and evening with our friends about 3 miles away. The live in a hamlet called Le Paradis. Anyway much food and drink was consumed then we played a form of dominoes called Mexican Train. I did at least manage to avoid the booby prize. We stayed over and are now back home. It's sunny, lunch has been had and i'm off paiying shutters shortly. Regards to all. Jamie 20
RMweb Gold Popular Post Happy Hippo Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 28, 2019 Drowning under the onslaught of the grandchildren. Yet when I count, there are only two of the pesky things. Each of them are Hell on two legs. A fighting withdrawal is planned but the long single leg across the drive to Muddy Hollow (Forward) is going to be tough. Close Air Support would be handy, but due to defence cuts, Biggles doesn't work weekends or after 1230 on a Friday. 21

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 28, 2019 Evening. Foul wind here, (external) really not nice, tree down locally near to Jayne's, which brought power lines down. Power OK here though. An afternoon spent, well, you know.... NO not that, modelling! At least, trying to. A few little things done, some wagons weathered, new buffers fitted to a loco, almost ready to complete the last bit of baseboard. NHN now ducks and awaits incoming Awl of Vengeance. The cramp though, first happened when......um.....busy. 16

I'd like to help Richard but I'm fully occupied doing a standing combat air patrol to ameliorate the effects of an infestation of SPTs* grandchildren in the North Hipposhire badlands. Tomorrow sees the restoration of what passes for normality here as they head off to distant parts then on Monday a friend (adult thankfully) arrives for the New Year. There is a slight chance that tomorrow afternoon may present an opportunity for me to take up temporary residence in the workshop but much can happen between now and then. Have a good evening all. RMweb Premium TheQ Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2019 After Evening awl, The entire day was full grey low cloud cover, and by the end of working on the boat I was only slightly lighter grey, covered in dust. The toolbox was still not dry so was taken into the house to find some heat before dust creation. After turning into something less looking like a ghost, we took Ben to the Beach, about 20 people and a dozen dogs down there. But by the time we were coming back the beach was empty, as sunset, should it have been visible , approached. Some sowing has since been done, in preparation for the corner reinforcement.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2019 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. An explanation for the closure of the A127 yesterday. The body of a man had been found at the roadside and he had been there for two days having been struck by a car in the early hours of Christmas day. The driver of a Range Rover has been arrested for causing death by dangerous driving and other motoring offences. Thoughts are with the friends and family of the deceased. 4 3

The Lurker
Greetings all. My lot have been and gone praising Mrs Lurker’s cooking to the skies. She is less pleased that my old man suggested all meeting for their January birthdays; almost as uninterested is my niece, now 12, for whom relations are now full! She has a sharp tongue and is allowed to get away with more than either Lurker boy! I enjoyed reading John’s comments about wassailing; I always think of a song we sang at school on time & tune; it went something like “wassail wassail all over the town our bread it is white our ale it is brown”. I can’t imagine 9 year olds learning the likes of that at school these days. i hope that those who are suffering recover soon and that all enjoy as they can this season
