RMweb Gold Kingzance Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 28, 2019 To budding students of the English Language, “the delights of Ryanair” is what is known as an oxymoron, itself not to be confused with a mentally challenged bull, whether in or out of a china shop. I’m sure John, our West Leicestershire correspondent will confirm . Safe travels Mick. 12 5

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2019 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Off to the Rayleigh toy fair tomorrow, will have to obtain some modelling tokens on the way. The accident I mentioned earlier occured not far from where the toy fair is taking place so I expect to find notices appealing for witnesses.

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted December 28, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2019 Good evening everyone I did place an order for a few more MERG kits, but it was only a small one, as some of the kits were out of stock, but these that I did order should arrive early in the New Year. I also had a play with a few more ideas that had been floating around my head but when I them into the simulator program, they didn't perform exactly as wanted them to so the ideas were scrapped. Mike and Sarah arrived just after 4:30 and Christmas gifts were exchanged over a nice muggertea. Then after a short chat, I ordered us all an Indian takeaway which Mike very kindly paid. More chatting followed and they left for home just after 8:30. All in all an very pleasant evening was had and once again the model token fund has been added to. Once they’d gone, we had a quick tidy up before settling down to watch a bit more recorded TV. Goodnight all

RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 Ey up! RMWeb stopped working so I went to sleep early. Nice 8 hour sleep catch up.. no reason for eyelid inspection today then. I feel the need for some fresh air today. A gentle stroll may be required. Just hope I can fit it in with her indoors list of things to do..all should be well. Her indoors produced a very tasty gammon, leek, carrot, celery and mushroom (in a creamy sauce) for tea last night. Excellent! There are a lot of missing ERs at the moment. One or two are adding the odd post on RMWeb (and elsewhere) but others, including Trisonic, have gone very quiet. Just hope they are OK. Time to bludgeon Sunday into submission...but first...a mugatea! Baz 20 2
RMweb Premium TheQ Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 29, 2019 Mooring Awl, inner Temple Hare, I think I've had a reasonable amount of sleep but very broken up. Ben the I'm not leaving my toy behind Collie, took his hedgehog on patrol with him this morning, cool but not chilly, broken clouds, First light is occurring. What work I do today will depend on drying paint and how my back feels. If all else fails it will be sewing. Time for breakfast... 4
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 Morning all from a foggy and cool Charente. The nurse is here and having a coffee. The two doors got their undercoats finished and various other tasks were completed. We will be be off to the market to meet friends for coffee. Then this afternoon more paint will be applied and we will see the new colour for the first time. Over the next few months the shutters on the house will change from a peeling dark brown to a nice blue. The plan is to do a pair a fortnight. Anyway I will be off now but send regards to al Jamiel 20
RMweb Gold Popular Post Kingzance Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 Thin clouds over NEHerts this morning, no rain overnight either. The Mutt (who only woke us twice during the night)has been out and muggerteas made / consumed. “We” are to visit the home of one of SWMBOs table tennis Players this afternoon for drinks / socialising - pah, bumhug. I hope to have more success exercising The Mutt today, he didn’t want to leave our road yesterday, and our road is only 50yds long! I wonder if it is him fearing yet more turmoil in his life as he has been deserted by his normal family as they enjoy a week’s skiing? I could try taking him back to visit his normal estate and see how he gets on there I suppose. other issues requiring my attention are ....(gap here awaiting today’s orders).... Have a good, safe and healthy day everyone. 6
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 (edited) Good morning all, Dry here at the moment and we may even see some sunny spells. Much aching of The Shoulder and Hip caused another disturbed night. As the Honourable Member for Southall Shed commented I did spend some time in my chair yesterday (but not tied to it ) as I watched 3 back to back rugby matches. Mostly enjoyed except for Quins managing to chuck away a healthy lead and end up drawing with Tigers. Exeter v Sarries today, that should be a good'un. Son Steve is popping round later this morning to help with a small IT problem but first I think some brekkie is called for although The Chef (Boss) has not appeared yet. I am quite capable of getting my own but it's not worth the resultant flak I'll get for "messing up my kitchen." I don't make actually make a mess but she won't have it so it's best to sit back and let her take charge. Now, should I give her a shout or just wait it out?.......discretion is probably the better part of valour I think. Have a good one, C.Oward. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 29, 2019 Morning all from Estuary-Land. RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 Morning. Still blowing a hoolie out, but not wet at least. I really need a walk but I'm likely to 'not enjoy' it in the current weather, flat lands around here on the northern plain of the rock mean there is little shelter from said hoolie. I do need some plywood for the fiddle yard as I was going to make do with scraps but have decided to do it properly.....ahem. Those O gauge locos are heavy. Back when we lived on Tyneside we would go to the Metro Centre (shudders) on days like this after a period of poor weather, not to shop, but to walk around and around without wind, rain and other detritus spoiling things. You could do a few miles without retracing your steps, but then of course you had to remember where you had left the car. The view wasn't good though! There was something like 12,000 car parking spaces back then, there's probably a good lot more now. It's getting on for 18 years since we were there. Mrs NHN is off shooting things with her scary bow 'n arrers this afternoon, so sounds like a good time for me to go to the Orange place for that ply. 4

RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 Morning all. Not a lot happening today. We had a nice day in Enfield. I avoided the post lunch political discussion by chatting with the nephews, nieces and various cousins and their friends. I am surprised that Aditi’s back is fine today as at one point she, the two tiny nieces and a family friend (an A&E Doctor) were playing some game that probably involved warrior princesses riding unicorns. Our eldest nephew responded to a request from our tiniest niece to play with his guitar. He did the left hand actions while Nina strummed with both hands. No problems with traffic there or back. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 Good morning everyone Well after a lie-in this morning we finally got up just after the 11 o’clock news. There’s not a lot planned here for today, but as always, that may well change. The only task I must do is to retrieve the bins, as we had to put them out last night for today’s collection, it all goes to pot around Christmas and New Year! We do have a bit of blue sky breaking through, no rain and there is very little wind (outside). Enjoy the day, back later. 19
RMweb Gold Popular Post Happy Hippo Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 I has an accident after consuming Elderport last night, having crept back into the house after the rout yesterday. (Which was more akin to the retreat from Stalingrad.) The accident was not securing the front door before retiring. On rising this morning, I found that the gorilla had breached the security perimeter crept into my room, emptied my wallet, thrown my clothes around the room and done something unmentionable in my mouth. 14
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 Afternoon awl, Your temporary ghost here, I have returned to pink format for the day. I'm sat wrapped up warming up, while Ben the envious Collie eyes my cheese and biccies. There is a small piece of cheddar reserved on the plate for him. The first couple of hours was spent drilling 16 2.5inch diameter, one inch thick holes, two to give access to the mast step pins, the rest for lightening ship. The cores are now adding heat to the room. After that, dremel time and a bag of flapwheels, six were used of twenty. I spent 3 more hours lying , sitting, kneeling , scrunched up in the bottom of the boat grinding / sanding those parts an angle grinder can't reach. Tomorrow will start with hovering the boat out and then seeing what I've missed. The fan heater during this was gently blowing across the toolbox trying to dry the paint while adding a little heat to the marquee. Something Ben did not be get is some of the Amber liquid in a glass next to me. Time for a sip or two and eyelid assessment. 19

RMweb Premium Popular Post 45156 Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 29, 2019 (edited) Afternoon All Late on parade, as we were out last evening, and didn't get back until quite late, to find Lily barking, and she'd done a wee on the floor, so we stayed up for another hour or so, and got to bed about midnight, which is late for us, and slept only until our "usual" getting up time, I made 30747 a cuppa, just got down to another sleep, and Lily decided she needed another wee, and then slept until nine, which is very late for us. The lateness of the hour last night was that we were visiting former neighbours, and their younger son, who is a cracking chap was visiting on a short post Christmas break. This was a surprise to us, but a pleasant one, as he had two nice bottles of single malt with him, and these were willingly sampled. Oddly, last time he arrived with bottles, I managed to get well p1ssed, even though I consumed a similar quantity to last night - I suspect that the whisky disagreed with one or more of my medications, as this time, my BP meds were totally different. Of course, I think that last time, one of the bottles was at cask strength, and that too might have had a bearing on matters. So I have been busy checking the credit card after the sales - modelling token fund has been depleted, then I've been working on 30747's sewing box, and she has been wrapping next years Christmas presents, and birthday presents, as she can't stand doing the job on the run up to Christmas. It means that everybody getsa much better present than they would otherwise get, as they're all half pice (or less) in the sales. Also had a puncture yesterday - a nail in the tread, and the low typre pressure warning kept coming on - must have happened sometime the evening before, and after our trip to Kendal, I made my way straight to National Tyres, where I was separated from £20, and got the usual lecture about the state of my tyres and brakes. Then when I got home, the washing machine had packed up, and was locked with a load of washing in it, and they can't get a repairman to me until Monday week. I tried the Internet, and got a tip that sometimes giving the door a sharp bang can release it - did that, and hey presto - did a dummy wash, and it worked perfectly, so did a small load, and it then finished, didn't unlock, and all the lights on the machine were flashing like a christmas tree, and the door would not unlock. Cut the power to the machine, and gave the door a bang again, and it opened, but my proposal to cancel the reapir visit has been kicked into touch - luckily we have a spin drier out in the garage, so we can hand wash, then spin and tumble. So I'm caught up, and I do wonder about the whereabouts of some ERs. It's the usual generic greeting to every celebrating or ailing ER, of course. Back tomorrow Regards to All Stewart Edited December 29, 2019 by 45156 1
RMweb Premium TheQ Posted December 29, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 29, 2019 It's 28 years since I went to Ely Cathedral, and 32 since last visiting the metro center. I suspect that Ely Cathedral will still be standing long after the metro centre closes for lack of business, in the face of Amazon of Peterborough... 13
