Eaton
Will attempt to upload a couple of photographs of the exhibition. One is the best view of the show from the exhibitors lounge showing a busy period around Sunday Lunch time. Thankfully our attendance seems to be identical to last year which is a considerable relief given the problems that the weather has caused over the last two weeks. The layout shows a problem on Apethorn Junction which was awarded the 'Best Layout Trophy' as voted by the exhibitors. This took the form of a very tasteful glass trophy and a £50 Prize. ozzyo
Went to Wigan show on the Sat. very good show full of high quality layouts and nice wide isles. Glad to hear that the attendance was about the same as last year. The only down side to my mind was the lack of seating at tables in the old Sportsman's bar. I know that this is not under the control of the Wigan fine scalers, but a word in the right ear may help. See yous next year. OzzyO
Isambard Kingdom Brunel
Had a really good day today. Loved Midhurst, ran really well, good scenery and good models running. I would have liked to talk to them about how they use Fulgurex motors, their turnouts seemed to work faultlessly. I have fulgurex motors on my layout and would have loved to see how they connect theirs to the point. (Directly, through a Turnout Operating Unit or with some mechanical linkage for remote operation?) If anyone from Leyland reads this I would be interested off thread. Grange over Sands, enjoyed this as I have spent many hours walking the prom there, very realistic model, unusual to see the operators behind a Black Gauze very theatrical. Though it would have been nice to have had some info about what trains are running. Apethorn Junction, very good O Gauge, sound, lights and smoky exhausts. Cornwallis Yard now a roundyroundy and excellent compact scenic area wth so much detail. Friddoedd Branch my kind of layout North Wales, GWR, lots of scenic details nice to see it in the flesh. Lots of "Modern Image" and Diesels I prefer a good kettle, but, they did look very good. Thanks to all concerned, I managed to buy what I wanted and a little bit more, looking forward to 2011........Barmouth Bridge!!!!!!
APOLLO
Just back from a wonderful (as usual) Wigan exhibition. My favourite was Apethorne Jcn - 9/10 - would have got 10/10 had a few more trains been running !!. Second favourite was the N gauge mini MSW - just for the wonderful fine scale catenary - they must have a well "train"ed spider !!. Halifax King Cross was great for the overgrown track & rusty wagons. What did my kids think - well the cakes where yummy, though not too interested in the trains, they showed great interest in the scenery and wildlife modelled - truly something for everyone at Wigan. RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted December 12, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 12, 2010 A really top show, some quality layouts and good mix of trade. A very good impression for a first time Wigan-er. Only spoilt by getting there late after being 'parked' on the A19 at Thirsk this morning for over 1 1/2 hours following an accident... . RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted December 12, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 12, 2010 Thanks to all those who exhibited and attended and, of course, all the volunteers and centre staff who combined to make the show what it was - a great success B)

Thanks to all who came along and had a chat on Wheal Elizabeth. Thanks also to the organisers for everything but especially the food. Diet starts tomorrow! Jim Martin
Went to the show this morning - very good indeed. Well done to everyone involved. I spent a long time in front of Wibdenshaw, which is even more impressive in the flesh than in print, and saw lots of other excellent layouts (it would be a bit unfair to single any out, but in a spirit of good-natured unfairness, I particularly liked Glenrothes and Thornbury Hill). Good selection of trade stands: I don't really splash out on train stuff this close to Christmas but I bought a couple of sample packs of Easitrack from the 2mm Society and two different examples of etched palisade fencing (BH Enterprises and N Brass) for comparative trials. All-in-all, easily worth the price of admission - and I was early enough to park for free Jim
newcastle_central
Another thumbs up for WIgan, as it is every year . Continues to be my favourite NW show and this year's standard was as high as usual. The main room seemed very open and spacious this year but I don't think there were fewer layouts than usual. Favourite was Wheal Elizabeth, beautifully observed and modelled but Blakeney and Market Roundham were also great. I loved the way Market Roundham was a circular layout showing how a continuous run can be fitted into a small space. There was an N gauge layout next to it that was also circular and excellent but it's name escapes me. I also parted with some cash with Exactoscale and came away with one of their excellent turnout kits. Having built P4 C&L turnouts, I'd heard great things about Exactoscale and following an informative chat with the owner, I bought a B7L kit. Having looked over it at home, it does look a quality bit of work. Jonathan
Allegheny1600
Hi guys, Another huge vote of thanks from me (& my 'posse'!) for a really excellent day, yesterday! The layouts were all excellent but my favourite has to be 'Colnrade' - superby detailed and really, really beautiful stock, I'm even more hooked on German '0' now! The only other 'outstanding' display - for me, were the 7mm L&YR locos in the L&YR 'area'! Ah, if only I could build to that quality and standard (one day?). Did my small bit to support the specialist traders with some Exactoscale items(!) so came away a very inspired and happy bunny. Will be back next year, thats a fact! John E. dibateg
Excellent show, really worth the journey from Mid Wales, we only just manged to get around everything in 1 day. I'll echo the other comments:- well done to the organisers for putting on a great show! Tony G.
Sam - WFRM ADMIN
as one of the organisers of the show..... i managed to finally get a look round on sunday... my favourite layout has to be Market Roundham, as this layout although small had two different views the industrial side and the more scenic side..which blended very well together. must admit i did spend a while there....... watching the layout and talking to Gary the owner and the operators... was hoping to say goodbye to them when they were leaving after the show last night, but missed them..... not sure if they are members on here.... but Thanks for bringing a great layout!!!!! will certainly have to find out where it is out and about in the coming year..... did notice a small error in the exhibitior packs.... the Gecko CS leaflet has my old number on (only changed it a few days ago) so if you could use the email instead!!!!
