Next batch of Class 70's

Recommended Posts

Move on again now - booked 22:34 Nantwich

Do you have a thing for Nantwich Dave....lovely little town, I was brought up there from the age of 13.......did a lot of my early spotting there when I wasnt allowed out to Crewe.

But thanks for the update.......just wondering how it might get from Basford Hall to Loughboro......any chance it might come through Uttoxeter...fat chance I would think???

70099 landed this morning freightliner green sans vinyls details and tonights ? times wnxx

I may be wrong, but I believe that green livery is the one this loco originally left the factory with as a demonstrator, back in February 2011.

AFAIA it wasn't intended to come to the UK originally and is here to replace 70012.

Is it the same shade of green as the Freightliner base colour?

It looks to be a darker colour from all the photos I've seen?

It's on it's way, passed Abergavenny

late arrival at Basford then.......its my pals that still do the numbers thing. And its you that is the best source of info that I use to keep them up to speed with.

They think I'm the Fount of all Knowledge...well at least for all the Class 70 arrivals.

Latest RUMOUR to resurface is that it's a demonstrator for GBRf. (Although FL completed the acceptance paperwork for 099) :senile:

Cheers,

Mick

p.s. any chance of a photoshopped 70 in Europorte livery - or should I just imagine something similar to the pair of 20's? :drag:

At last - a sensible livery for a change. Shame our numbering specialist had eleven pints before he applied 7009 9 to the front though.

Got a feeling there's a panel join there. Still they could've done the triple grey thing and just done 099. In fact, why not paint it in a nice, neutral demonstrator livery. How about triple grey....hahaha

If it turns out to be quite quick in photoshop tomorrow before work then maybe...

ETD Crewe at 16:00 today others claim Friday a.m - don't shoot me.

If it goes via Stenson Jnc from Burton direction, I might pop out, only 15mins away. If it goes via Uttoxeter, I work only 50 mtrs from the line.

Keep us informed if possible.

Thanks Bob

I saw one of the new Class 70's going past my work yesterday, they sound good (Engine noise) but the design of the loco looks so ugly, good I was far enough away to notice how terrible they are lol!!

Exactly what I thought initially a year or so back........but I was always a big fan of the 58's....and now the 70's have grown on me.
