Next batch of Class 70's

Recommended Posts

With bulk ballast workings, if there's coalfish tagged on it's usually for loading with gravel for drainage works in the forthcoming weekend.

Our bulky runs with mussels, but can have some replaced with coalfish as required. The train the coalfish go out on at the weekend may often also have some Bass (OBA/OCA) loaded with piping etc

I agree, great pic,I saw 70804 passing through Chatburn while waiting for the logs which passed Settle 9 mins early but ended up being over 2 hours late by the time it reached Hellifield,I hung around for a while but had to get off.

Colas 70816 descends from the bridge, out of shot to the left, across the river Calder at Cooper Bridge as it slowly approaches the signal protecting Heaton Lodge East Junction on 31st July 2019 with 6E32, 10.07 Colas Ribble Rail to Lindsey Oil Refinery.

Second day in a row for Colas 70816 working 6E32, 10.07 Colas Ribble Rail to Lindsey Oil Refinery and as the camera was already out of the bag as it approached Brighouse it would have been rude to have forgone the opportunity.

Colas 70816 is currently a regular performer on 6M32/6E32 bitumen tanks, interspersed by pairs of class 56s.  Crossing Thornhill LNW Junction on 20th August to take the diverging line towards Wakefield Kirkgate, via the overgrown remnants of Healey Mills Yard with 6E32, 10.07 Colas Ribble Rail to Lindsey Oil Refinery.

Looks like it could do with a clean.

By Freightliner's standards this 70 is pretty clean...70015 light engine through Woodlesford on 10th September 2019 working 0Z70, 10.50 Leeds Balm Road to Leeds Balm Road via York Holgate Siding.

I read on wnxx.com today that 70007 was out on traction training between Toton and Earles (Hope) for the start of Class 70 workings out of Tunstead.  I’m hoping that Freightliner start pulling Class 70’s out storage and into revenue service.

Bit dirtier than the first time I drove it

admittedly I was the first person to drive it and it had only done 40 odd miles in that picture having just picked it up from the docks in Liverpool an hour earlier

If one of us built a kit with such a wonky running plate and droopy cabs, we'd be advised to take up another hobby!

Compare and contast with the Doncaster built AL6 behind.
