Free postage now though. So that knocks the price down by a few quid for those that aren't local.

Thanks, I hadn't noticed that.  Unfortunately it does mean one has now found its way onto my Paypal bill for next month......

Are the smaller ones making an appearance again this year? I'm in two minds about getting another pair.

It doesnt appear so, a pity as I need another 2 small ones because the big ones I bought are too big for the model room.

Lidl large collectors display cases are back from Thursday 15th. £59.99 each or 2 for £100.00. 110x68x20cm.

These are excellent I already have 3. A fantastic way of displaying your models. I have fitted LED strips to mine. If you are considering a display case you won't be disappointed with these, and the price is a bargain. You will need two people to carry them though.

Today's Rails advent offer, Hornby LNER N2, £59.50 plus free postage: https://railsofsheffield.com/Hornby-lner-0-6-2t-4765-n2-class-locomotive-r3465-Hornby-JJJA29987.aspx

A little off topic but do you know how long this free postage takes to arrive (last free postage i used was 48 hour tracked but this one just says free postage promotion when I look at the order history)?

Edit: seems to be the same just the postman was very late!

I've taken it upon myself to resurrect a specific thread for these at: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/49335-lidl-display-cases/&do=findComment&comment=2537583

Hopefully negating the need for display case shoppers and actual model purchasers tripping over each other. C6T.

Looks to me like Rails have just dropped some of their sale prices again on their website.

For example, the Hornby RF 47 (TTS Sound) is now £59.50 (£5 cheaper than yesterday, but still at the higher price on their Ebay site), and I suspect other prices may have dropped too?

How long before I succumbe?

The 47 was available at £59.50 on their advent calendar. Click on the current deal and then slide the screen to pick up earlier offers. Some are still available - including the 47.

Cheers,

Mick

Yes - but it was £64.50 after the first day of advent deal, until today when it's returned to that price. I was looking at it daily - but still haven't convinced myself to buy it!

Looks like Rails have OO 7-car HST set in blue/grey tomorrow.  Details in due course no doubt.

I noticed this 5-coach HST set yesterday. Pretty good deal, if you want the original 70s HST powercars (£325 on the Ebay site):

<Edit>

Even better deal now - Limited edition HST set + 5 coaches at £295 with free P&P...

Rails have added place-holders up to 28Dec.

Maybe they don't know Advent ends on the 24th?

Or they knew they were 4 days late starting, poll anyone?

Hi,

Nothing to do with this Topic but I'm desperate !

I can't find my latest [last week] Topic anywhere - 2 mm Finescale loco chassis.

I can't even find "an Administrator" to ask where it is - and I've already spent the best part of an hour looking all over the place.

Can anyone help me please ?

The traditional overstock sale is a bit old-hat these days. The big online cycling shops are always having sales and specials because they know that this drives customer visits and triggers orders for non-discounted items. I'm surprised the major model rail retailers don't do something similar.
