'CHARD
Jim and I passing like ships in the night, in the Ian Allan shop, by the sound of it! One of the more notable reduced-to-clear wagons, somewhat unaccountably IMHO, is the NE 12T fruit van in early bauxite. Very tasty indeed!

I am sure it did run around Plymouth in 1949...

shortliner
Discovered this morning that Inverness has suddenly sprouted a branch of The Works - so I had a poke about - I found "Los Angeles Graffiti" reduced from £16.99 to £3.99, and snapped it up - I know there are those who don't like it, but it is a fact of modern life for USA modellers. delticman
Wilkinsons are selling strings of warm white LED Christmas lights, 20 for £3.50 now thats a bargain! O.K. you need to razor saw off the concave lens (plenty of room to do this without damaging the LED), then sand to 360 grit. The LEDs and wiring are each encapsulated in clear plastic which can be knifed off easily. Wired to at least a 1Kohm resistor they provide a more realistic glow than yellow LEDs on BR Blue diesel domino headcode boxes. Geoff.

'CHARD
Not sure how this pans-out, but I confess it's tempting me. Rails of Sheffield R2979 West Coast Railways train-pack Black 5 late-crest 44932 and 3 MkIIs £149.50 (was £204.99) Now, is this a full spec Stanier, because if it is, I'd be tempted to get the pack and dispose of the 'pullmans' for lucre - anyone know? Jamie
Looks to be from the catalogue images 'Chard. Unless you get upwards of £20/ea for the coaches, I don't see it as a massive bargain for the loco alone. Good, one careful owner Fives can be had for sixty notes or so. 'CHARD
Jamie, all credit for taking such a question from yours truly in your stride, without any apparent surprise! I blame it on a tide of pre-Christmas fervour. You're spot on with the economics of the equation, and sixty sovs for a Five - compared to 55 for the RR D49 - is money well spent.
