Baby Deltic
A lot of those film clips were used on the Diesels & Electrics On 35mm video's by Video 125. Some of the clips are actually in colour. The sequence with D8402 was on the West London Line near Stamford Bridge. Baby Deltic
What are those wagons in the middle of the train? Cheers Peter C. I think they're continental flat wagons or possibly ferry wagons.

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted March 26, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 26, 2013 That music is irritating! Maybe - but I knew those jingles note for note. Keith Skues and his cardboard shoes, anybody? Some of the contemporary hits that followed were a good cue for muting, however.
RMweb Premium keefer Posted March 26, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 26, 2013 veering OT, but i'm sure some of the chart announcements are kenny everett before he fully became 'kenny everett' not watched this for a while, quality stuff - though a green met-camm at kirkcaldy (13:25ish) still takes me by surprise! I think you are right BD, looking again, they appear to be loaded with army Bedfords. Returning from BAOR perhaps?? Must have been a fascinating piece of railway to watch for sheer variety. cheers, Peter C.

Maybe they have been damaged/cannibalised out in the field.

Uprated to 4 ton when the HGV came in so squaddies would get a HGV 3.
'CHARD
footage of 1 working, 11min45seconds. Fantastic! Love the music, the period ads, the voiceover, everything. That sort of compilation is everything I want from the social context of the Transition. Great find, Mike,
HornbyA3Fan
Why were the Class 16's not preserved?. By looking at this loco, I'm getting interested in its difference of design of British rail Diesel locomotives, and I might need to save up to buy one. And can anyone tell me more about the Class 16's if possible, just interested in their history

And can anyone tell me more about the Class 16's if possible, just interested in their history It's because back then Diesel preservation had not even begun. Most of whats preserved now are because of quirks of fate. The locos were employed in the BR research dept or gained use as carriage heaters etc. Paul

(also more convenient to have a load fit easily onto a flat, rather than have to drum up some sort of well wagon etc.?) Jawfin
Heljan class 16 + Heljan original class 23 + Bachmann Robinson O4. Then I PROMISE I won't buy any more locos. For a while. Probably. Maybe...

SRman
That is perfectly true: the Wickham trolley and trailer and the retooled class 40 are both due from Bachmann in OO ... eventually. Edited May 19, 2013 by SRman

RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted June 24, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 24, 2013 My e-mail says 12th August for my two....if I get my finger out I could have the two scratchbuilt nearly finished ones ready for their arrival. Then I would have 60% of the class.
