The South has seen a couple of Tug workings, but none have been during a sensible time (Well, when I'm not at work!) A loco I did miss was 60074, and what pi@#ed me off further was that it worked to Fawley on 4th July!! Gah!! Although a friend did catch it coming into Marchwood: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/9208274127/ Anyway, by far the best day spotting I've had in recent history was at Tamworth on Friday 5th July. (Was up that way for DEMU.) The Sun was out all day, and we managed to bag 6 Class 60's during the 8 hours we were there! A video can be found here: 60091 - 6M11 Washwood Heath - Peak Forest 60062 "Stainless Pioneer" - 6M96 Margam - Corby 66031 & 60065 "Spirit of Jaguar" - 6X01 Toton North Yard - Eastleigh Yard 60092 - 6E41 Westerleigh - Lindsay 60059 "Swinden Dalesman" - 6E08 Wolverhampton - Immingham 60019 "Port of Grimsby & Immingham" - 6M00 Humber - Kingsbury And slightly closer to home, 60039 worked down to Marchwood on 10th July with the MOD trip. It's seen from Brockenford Bridge in Totton as it pulls forward onto the mainline with a solitary container flat. It was working the return 6V38 Marchwood MOD to Didcot but as far as Eastleigh Yard. Steadfast Posted July 30, 2013 Share Posted July 30, 2013 Here's a few from a couple of months ago 60017 climbs the gradient away from Wootton Bassett Junction at Callow Hill working 6B33 Theale - Robeston 2/5/13 60092 approaches Chippenham working 7C48 Appleford - Westbury 10/5/13 60054 thuds past the loops at Hullavington with 6B33 Theale - Margam (1) 18/5/13 Plus a couple of older ones that seem to match the weather we've had the last few days... 60054 and 60009 shunting the tanks at Westerleigh to form 6E41 back to Lindsey. 60009 had failed overnight on the inward 6V98, with 60054 dispatched as a rescue loco 23/3/10 60022 looks a bit sorry for itself with patched paintwork and oil streaking at Westerleigh 16/7/09 60059 approaches Alderton Tunnel on 6B33 Theale - Robeston 8/8/09 jo 9 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Coming back from London they normally seem to end up on a Whatley train, either 6C76 from Acton or 6V18 from Whatley. Is that footpath crossing (between the station and the tunnel) easy enough to get to? I couldn't find the path lat time I was over there. It did start raining though, which put me off. This was taken from the newly opened section of the cycle path on the old Midland route to Bristol/Bath. I had hoped that it would present a few opportunities for morning pictures, but there is too much lineside vegetation. This was the only spot where I could get a glimpse of the loco.
