Perhaps he could be tempted to leave by the thought that he'll have a presidential pension once he leaves office, he'll never be "poor" again.  Also he'll get a secret service bodyguard until he dies.  A great saving there too!

The frightening thing is that he could come back in 4 years time and if it hasn't gone well for honest Joe there is a good chance he would be re-elected

They could, but they also know that if he ran anyway as a third party candidate he'd split their vote meaning the Democrats would win.

He usually goes down to Florida for the weekend. He is at least bothered enough to stay close to The White House.

 

Perhaps somebody could change the locks while he is out on the course.
