Can anyone put a case forward for the purchase of one or more of these scrumptious looking SR box vans from Rails then.

G. I believe it might be 3D printed and in conjunction with Dapol. Both factors which might lead to a future 7mm version we could both buy :)

Thanks Colin, but if we both buy it then does that mean you have it for 6 months and then I have it for the other 6 months ?

Caution to those not modelling the SECR - there were only 110 of these D1424 vans  built (1904 to 1908). Only 5 lasted to BR days (45358, 45374, 45382, 45427 and 45455). Both things mean they were quite rare in home territory and even rarer further afield. All appear to have gone by 1956. A traffic they were allocated to in 1933 was paper traffic between Aylesford and Blackfriars.

They seem to have received lots of different fittings and had various doors, wheels, brakes etc over the years. Numbering in SECR days was random not in blocks. All the variations and renumbering in SR days make them a bit of minefield for Dapol / Rails.

Of course Rule 1 can apply...

Thanks very much for that detailed info Chris. Rule 1 also applied when I bought the LNER dynamometer car from the same stable. ;)

Not brilliant ( or correct ) but I've been having a play with some techy software stuff, seeing as I am virtually stuck regarding "real modelling" its quite fun doing virtual stuff.

Could be useful for back scene areas or suchlike ?  Or possibly not ! :crazy_mini:

**I am virtually stuck regarding "real modelling"** - the reason being I am on the fringe of a house sale / move

New railway room with house attached, as a dear late friend of mine would have said.

Those are nice views, Robin, thanks for posting these.

It's making me want to get one, but I'm getting increasingly disillusioned with the inconsistent slow running qualities of current RTR offerings.
