But even I know that is wrong, the painting of lowly mixed traffic 4-6-0s into (Great) Western Region green took place after the introduction of the BR heraldic emblem (not late crest), so displaying the BTC totem is so so wrong.

Not so fast, my very fine fellow!

 

There were examples of BR lined green locos with the early cresty totemblem. I think they were using up stocks of the earlier transfercrestyembletems.

I wondered what the green thing was - I narrowed it down to either a King, Castle, Hall, Manor, County, Grange, Saint or Star. Mark told me that the box pushing the train up the hills was a 33. Every day is a school day.
