I have no idea why the notices and CCF showed you running through the platform since there was no prohibitions shown at Leamington on any route. Had the TDA clerk ring up afterwards querying why you had lost time. Had a slightly inebriated young man ring up later still wishing me a happy new year at about 0150. Actually quite welcomed it as I stared morosely at an engineering train running around at Fenny, brightened the night up a little. RMweb Gold big jim Posted January 3, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) it seemed odd to go through the platform at leamington hence why i queried it as i know the only restriction is hatton station i got asked about the delay too, questioning the route didnt actually cost me any time as i rang you on the move, i lost a bit of time here and there all the way back as the loco kept taking power from me 'cold engine, load limited' which i reported, typically it did it on hatton bank so i crawled upto the signal for the back loop as it wouldnt let me have the power i needed, but i wondered also if the timings take into account the fact im not going through hatton at 50mph and have to slow to 10mph through the crossover and all the way through the back platform which adds a good 5 mins to the trip and yes that was me at OL3150 Edited January 3, 2016 by big jim Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Trouble with dealing with the TDA clerks is that, with some at least, if you try to explain or suggest something to them in anything but the simplest terms they do not understand. Once I tried to explain something and the clerk then turned around and put all the delay onto me for something that was nothing to do with me. Nowadays I say as little as possible to them as I can. RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 3, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 3, 2016 some from last night, bescot to banbury with an empty rake of falcons the original loco should have been 66849 which was all up and running and prepped when i arrived, i gave it another prep only to find that it had developed a tpws fault when i changed ends, i went through all my fault finding, including "turning it off and on again" but to no avail so i had to take it off the train and replace it with a hired in EWS 66 fresh loco on the train then a few hours later after getting relief at banbury the rear of train in front drove back to bescot to drop off the pool van and walked back to my van, past the virtual quarry where 60035 was resting between turns and that was that 31 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 4, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 4, 2016 some iphone pics from last night, got a call to move a loco from bescot to carlisle for the logs took the loco off the rear of a train that had just come in from banbury, had to run it into tame bridge to head back to the depot for fuel, changing ends, just taken the lamp off but not put the lights on then on for fuel had a cracking run, 60mph all the way so just over 3 hours later into kingmoor yard another 60 sat there too because of the blockage north of carlisle every siding bar one was in use in carlisle station including the centre road with this tpe 350 24 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 5, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 5, 2016 some from last night, the logs ran with 12 wagons as the remaining few were blocked in at kingmoor, that combined with no trains north of carlisle and ATW being on strike meant despite it leaving an hour late is was 2 hours early into chirk and back on its way north by 20:00! as it was 2 hours early i got to the station for 22:30 only for stafford to hold it there for over an hour so it eventually rolled into crewe at midnight as i say ATW were on strike so there were no units in the station, very little coming from the north too so at 23:00 the station was eeriely quiet then a couple of bits and bobs came in and off to carlisle, practically the only thing on the network, only passed 2 other trains the whole way, the trip took me 2:20 mins and being as it was only 400 ton it took shap at 60mph kingmoor yard after running round and backed into the log sidings had to do something in carlisle before heading home so missed the first train back by 2 mins, because of the disruption the 05:44 isnt running at the moment and the first train is now 06:48 so i ended up on the 07:48 couple from the station same again tonight but with 21 wagons and not running early from chirk 26 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 6, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 6, 2016 and some more from last night before i go off to bed crewe 57307 in DRS 20th anniversary livery pendolino in the loop my train arriving in and up to kingmoor non stop again, full length train this time so some pics from futher up the yard, as it happened the dalston tanks arrived and departed while i was there after running round 60002 heading to collect some more wagons for dalston EWS and Freighliner 66s 60095 dalstons coming back out and my train being reloaded off to the station for the train home, couple of pendolino's in the sidings and back into crewe, 4 freightliner leccies heading off to LNWR ews 66 on an engineers train the 86s including unique 86501 ATW units 175 heading to milford haven and thats yer lot, i may take the big tripod tonight for some different angle pictures 26 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
