Won't win any photographic prizes, but 66601 & 66607 top & tail the solitary hopper wagon, passing Leeds Holbeck on 30th January.

Further evidence yet of the decline in coal traffic with running these reduced formation trains ;)

But the foreground modelling interest is fabulous!

Thanks for the inspiration.

66533 rumbles by with 6M17, 09.11 Redcar High Level to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station, loaded coal hoppers on 26th April.  Currently running across the Pennines M-F and recently routed via Huddersfield and Standedge Tunnel rather than the usual route along the Calder Valley via Hebden Bridge.

Tonbridge West Yard, 25.4.18

66 748 'West Burton 50', 758, 762, 775 'HMS Argyll', 788. (plus 1 unidentified loco) on site.

758 was at the head of a rake made up mainly of HYA hoppers, but also included a couple of HHA's, one with the 'colas' stickers as modelled by Bachmann, and one with very faded 'UK Coal' stickers.

Cheers,

Phil.

A busy afternoon on the Blyth & Tyne!

Headed to North Blyth to catch FLHH 649V leaving Battleship Wharf for York Yard South but surprised to see Gbrf 66733 stabled at North Blyth Alcan. A very unusual sighting at this time of the day.

Back along the road at Battleship Wharf I caught FL 66538 departing.

Chased 66538 a few miles to Winning.

Thought I'd manage to catch 66538 at Newsham and found it waiting in the loop for GBrf 4N80 to pass, with 66716 leading.

A couple from along the Calder Valley this afternoon.

Freightliner 66587 approaching Brighouse station with 0Z51, 14.50 Leeds Balm Road to Leeds Balm Road.

post-414-0-99019800-1525289745.jpg

0Z50, 51 & 52 are in the schedule for M-F this week, although this is the first day that any have run; 0Z50 only completed the second half of its booked run and 0Z52 doesn't appear to have run at all.

0Z51 http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R02454/2018/05/02/advanced

I'm assuming from the routes taken around the Calder Valley that this is a route trainer/refresher in connection with forthcoming engineering works, as locomotives rarely visit Halifax or Bradford Interchange. Network Rail test trains and the autumn RHTTs being the only usual occurrences. I believe there are plans later this year to re-lay part of the approach to Bradford Interchange, around Mill Lane Junction, as part of the York ROC re-control project that will result in the abolition of the signal box there.

Re-starting following a signal check on the approach to Brighouse, 66755 digs in with 6M37, 11.25 Arcow Quarry to Pendleton loaded aggregate bogie hoppers.

In rather more inclement weather than Russ' shots above, the 1914 Southampton MCT to Lawley Street Freightliner, stops at Eastleigh for a crew change.

Caught up with GBRf 66733 and 66716 again this morning.

Having spent a couple of days at the seaside due to the cancellation of Tuesday's North Blyth Alcan - Fort William, 66733 eventually headed for Fort William on Thursday returning to North Blyth with 6E45 last night.

66733 waits  in the loop at Newsham to run around 6S45 and for 4N67 Tyne Coal Terminal - North Blyth to pass with 66716 leading.

66017 leads 6N02, 10.03 Eastleigh East Yard to Moreton (Dorset), loaded ballast wagons approaching New Milton on 12th May...

post-414-0-73135200-1526295436.jpg

...with 66031 bringing up the rear.  One of several similar workings over the weekend heading to the worksite between Moreton and Dorchester South.

post-414-0-13352300-1526295445.jpg

Evidently the work didn't go according to plan owing to equipment failure as South Western Railway's website is reporting this on Monday (14th) morning;

"A Network Rail engineering train has broken down between Wareham and Weymouth. This specialised train was being used to replace a section of the track and must be fixed on site.

Until this train is fixed, the missing section of track cannot be relaid. Network Rail engineers are working hard to rectify the issue but, the track may not be fully replaced until Wednesday 16 May

As a result, no services can run between Weymouth and Wareham in either direction on Monday 14 May.

We advise that you avoid travel between Wareham and Weymouth unless absolutely essential on Monday 14 May.

Disruption will continue into Tuesday 15 May and customers are strongly advised to continue to check for updates."

Which probably explains why 66031 with 6N02 returned running late on the morning of 13th May, 08.30 Dorchester South to Eastleigh East Yard, with what appeared to be the same rake of loaded ballast wagons, although minus 66017.  Approaching New Milton.
