roythebus
OK if that is a live webcam how come it is still bright daylight at 5pm local time in mid December, think it is more likely to have been a camera loop taken in summer Remember Switzerland is one hour ahead of UK time, and despite the time difference sunset is a lot later in that part of the world than it is in the UK. Are you sure? Switzerland is east of the UK, and therefore sunset will arrive there before it reaches us. Remember the earth rotates from West to East which is why the sun appears to move from East to West relative to us on the ground.

Sunset today in London was at 1554 local time and in Zürich it was at 1638 local time. Therefore, although sunset occurred 16 minutes earlier in Zürich than it did in London (at 1538 London time), relative to local time (given the hour difference), it was 44 minutes later. If you take the example of two towns either side of a north-south land border whose countries are in different time zones (eg. Portugal and Spain), sunset will occur at both towns at the same time, but in the Spanish town, it will be an hour later “on the watch”. jonny777
Have you ever added one set of BR arrows to your class 25, then visited the pub for the evening and maybe thought you would just finish the other end after 6 pints of cider but before going to bed? Don't worry about starting again; just make sure your loco is numbered 5159.

dvdlcs
Looking at the Flickr photostream there is another picture also titled 71019 and 71014 but clearly (well, out of focus) showing 71009. I suspect the two photos were taken at the same time & location (the crops and the field look the same!), the blurry one as they passed the cameraman and the sharper one after they had passed. Teddy bears, Claytons, woodhead route etc! As an aside the 71’s cousins the 74s were the last main line diesel or electric locomotives to go extinct in 1981. I'd question what bad choice 'The real railway' made over Woodhead ? ...................... we, the public, made a bad choice in electing politicians with insufficient foresight to predict that another trans-Pennine route ought to be retained - and that one they HAD retained would justify the expense of electrification !
