Single chimney too. None of your double conversions. Or as a Robin Sweet(ANTB) said of them recently in my hearing...”Go and wash your mouth out....” when the subject was broached.

Robin's going to froth at the mouth like a crazy person then  :jester:  - I have been commissioned to do a double chimney 5069 IKB (for the same client that I did Pendennis for)  :sungum:

I had to correct the dipped in diarrhea custom weathering job.

Sounds like a sophisticated extension of Hornbys "Factory Weathering", the weathered K1 appeared to be untouched until the running plate, below which it appeared to have been run through a well-matured slurry pit.

But, but, it ain't natural I tell 'ee!  Blue engines indeed.  It would kill all the fun of 'correct greens'....

Correct greens?  I hope we're not getting into a discussion on the benefits of broccoli and spinach?

As far as liveries are concerned, I feel that Hornby had a brave stab at alternatives with the GWR Red that appeared on "Olton Hall"!

Here is that rarely-seen version of Mallard in correct spinach...

Must have been a very early BR red Mk1....

As to Olton Hall's red livery on being a 'brave stab',

"You may well think that. I couldn't possibly comment."

Well, there's a difference between "brave" and "wise"!

But as WR thought that red diesels were desirable...

Not that I'm saying in any way that a Hornby Warship is anywhere near their best!

(The spinach green one is currently the cheapest "recognisable as its prototype, sort of" loco in the Hattons Monster Sale...)

In view of the imminence of newly-tooled Princess Coronation locos....

here are a couple of pics shamelessly edited from old tooling and the new ...

Whenever I see a Streamlined Coronation Class - I'm reminded of the scene in Dad's Army when Corporal Jones turns a bath tub into an improvised Tank....

On the subject of best ever, I incline to the 2007-on N15 King Arthur models..

All I know is they ain’t the GWR

Ack!  I'll have a relapse into bent 2-8-0T models if I'm not careful....   or start searching for a straight late BR single-chimney Castle!

For the moment,Brighton and Eastleigh rule.

I think possibly better than a Nelson, if that's possible..

.

Depends who you ask - that batch of N15 where the shortest lived :sungum:

I'll raise you another Castle..

Here is an edited older-tooling Princess Coronation just to be going on with..

Many, including me, would like better carriages than the very old and quaint versions currently available on Ebay.   Same goes for Silver Jubilee carriages I guess. I'm not holding my breath. They look fine here.

I rather like the old model when it has the larger front bogie wheels provided in the pack, as above and below..

post-7929-0-23920700-1543690221_thumb.jpg

Again, slightly edited, using wheels and motion from a recent Duchess, which I imagine are the same as the newly-tooled version of 6221.

I suspect I've erred with black-background nameplates.  Perhaps best I stay with Lord Nelson or Sir Francis! :)

I have to agree about the N15. It was and is a superb model, helped a little by comparison to Sir Dinadan

With a pleasant Sunday afternoon messing around, the photo of 851 'Sir Francis Drake' received a pretty good look, looks well up to N15 standards.

or with deflectors c1932 just before being banished to Stewart's Lane in 1933.

High summer has begun here, but skin issues can mean lying around... :)

I presume deflectors from BR Nelson tooling will fit 851. It got the bigger chimney by or in 2/1939 not sure when the olive green finished. Got a modified self-trimming tender 2/1939 too. Withdrawn 5/1962.
