Hornby announce Maunsell S15

Hornby still has R3327 and R3329 on pre-order, so they haven't turned up there yet.

My local shop gives delivery dates of October for the SR Green version, November for the late BR and December for the early crest BR S15s. Even the Hornby engine shed video states that this was a signed production sample and that delivery will be very soon, so the dates given by my local retailer look credible.

Hornby's website is still showing the SR version for August 2015 and the two BR ones by the end of September.

The first has obviously been missed and neither of the others appear likely to be met. None have yet been reported from the Antipodes so it looks like it will be a while yet.

I have the two BR versions on order and my last visit to my local dealer revealed no firm dates but I came away with an impression of "before Christmas with a bit of luck".

Good day John

Quick update - Been tracking two BR ones on 3 sites for sometime now - note that since last night the R3329 has slipped from 02/09/15 to 04/10/15 on Hornby website no change to R3328 - still showing 27/09/15 and has done since at least 07/08/15

The Sr version is still showing Aug 2015 on the Hornby website whilst a number of retailers are still quoting 2/9/15. The Ozzie version of a certain auction site is not showing any postings either.

Am sure they are not far away but a delivery update would be nice. After all the last Engine Shed blog said delivery 'very soon'.

October, November and December says my local dealer. Please see post 180 for details. We may however be pleasantly suprised if Hornby pull something out of the bag. The fact that they are not available as yet in OZ or NZ makes the above dates credible.

Maybe its a coincidence, but the Hornby website has tonight been updated with anticipated delivery dates...

R3327 - SR version : 18/10/15

R3329 - Late BR : 4/10/15

R3328 : Early BR : 27/9/15.

Good to know and this is a grateful acknowledgement that they are watching and understand and are addressing consumer frustration. Well done Hornby for being honest and not leaving the issue hanging....

.

Interesting (but a bit weird) that they have split the deliveries over three ships, but the main thing is that they will be in well before Christmas  -  that is good, I just hope they get some other new releases in before the 1st December.

.

Phil - tongue-in-check, but - wish I could agree, I can't.

I was rather hoping they'd get the S15 here about "NOW" or sooner, as I also have an "Okehampton" on pre-order and for entirely fiscal reasons (hoping to blind-side the CFO by having the deliveries a couple of months apart at least!) would rather see the S15 very VERY soon, or the latter delayed some (currently showing as Nov. 18), which I'd NOT want happening either  :(  <sigh> :O  :jester:

Such are the 1st world problems/struggles of a railway modeller I guess!

I have a pair of O2s in the offing as well but 'Okehampton' has been deferred so many times I'll need convincing it's not a mirage when it finally does turn up.

If I wasn't already single (and hence my own CFO), I think I might be in danger of becoming so........ :O

Gentlemen-----Have in some ways been rather pleased with the content of my October Hornby model rail mag.--purchased today.

I.e the detailed review of several eagerly awaited new items including the S15 and others.

How can it be that the official Hornby website states not just yet but the mags. have received, assessed and written detailed reviews from some weeks back as they composed their next  mag.edition.I assume they take/receive a representative sample from an incoming shipment.

This is not an intended sniper,s bullet--I would like to better understand this.

The last quarter of this year is turning to financial carnage.....

It is indeed. Hornbys King, DJMs King, Hornbys S15. My bank account can't keep up with this!

Not to mention O2s, 14/48xx, 5043 and 34051. Lms red l&y tank. Still a few items on wish list from prior years as well. A GWR liveried castle (not with hawks worth tender) etc

Medium term radar: 47xx, Merchant Navy, kernow d6xx, rail motor, new Hornby gwr and southern coaches.

Storage is also an issue. I'm thinking of following the great escape example and creating holes in back of my wardrobe....

The return of the Christmas splurge on model railway products?

Remember also that most dwellings boast enormous reserves of unused space beneath the floor boards. With some cunning work on your trousers you may discretely dispose of any arisings when out on escorted work detail to Tesbury's or whatever.

Storage is indeed an issue, even for those of us with no need to conceal what might be construed by certain persons as extravagance. :sungum:

It's been just as much a factor in my becoming more selective about what I buy as increasing prices.
