  1. But is that as preserved today which is being modelled?
  2. Might they be tweaking the tooling of Locomotion in the future to say cover the replica. That announced is as preserved and hence authentically stuffed and should not move which if it's anything like Rocket will how most of them will be anyway. How much will be in horribly brittle plastic when it should logically be metal components?
  3. SPDT centre off biased both way toggle switch such as https://www.cricklewoodelectronics.com/Miniature-SPDT-Centre-Off-Biased-Both-Ways-Toggle-Switch-Springs-to-Centre-Off-on-Release.html
  4. More of a issue IMO is the lack of a boiler cladding joint on top
  5. I've used a N curved point by trimming out alternate sleepers and glued the offcuts to widen the remainding sleepers
  6. Its happened before. Possibly a case of ticking off the most orders possible.
  7. I'm classing this year as a disaster. May 20 saw a 54 mile in a false expectation as it turned out of longer ones to come. At that time 407 miles and 18,537 ft climbed had been accumulated on the road bike. The next day my hybrid had its annual outing of 42 miles and 1537ft climbed. Then the weather went weird with far too many dry sunny but incredibly windy days leading to the road bike only accumulating 693 miles for the year with 39,490ft climbed showing that beyond May its outings were short lumpy ones. The ebike on its short vertical U shaped commutes and shopping trips, equally hilly in part, totalled 909 miles and 64,940ft elevation .
  8. Why pay more? Contact the retailer who ought to be offering a free return. If not try Peco for the clip - info@peco.co
  9. Long been best practice of quality model shops compared to those who are simply box shifters to test run a loco. In fact the only time a test run was not done by one shop was the Dapol N 14xx due to ridiculous hard setting grease they used.
  10. The Lima OO horse box was a 1979 product according to Ramsays British Model Trains Catalogue produced in GW Brown (L305625) LMS red (L305626) and SR Green (L305628). There was a N gauge version which is listed in that book as a 1978 model in LMS red (617) but 1980 in GW brown (616). A further GW brown one (616) and a SR Green (619) are marked as not made.
  11. Full page ad in the Jan 2024 Model Rail but despite a number of Warley articles no mention of it as far as I can see. The Clark Railworks one is featured.
  12. The pull out board is an added potential weakness especially if the connecting wires are soldered to the mimimal extent that often crops ups these days . Have three such locos and one has had to be hard wired, Not sure why their would be a need to hard wire a Next 18 as any lead fitted decoder (8 pin for example) can be used.
  13. Never been happy with the refitted tender body - it never seemed to refit level. One side or the other being slightly raised above the running plate. Took a file to the inside and pared down the insides until eventually it fitted properly and whats more only a gentle tug is now needed to remove it.
  14. Airfix were going to launch a 4P Compound 4-4-0 which was apparently according to one press report ready for release but pulled it when Hornby announced theirs. There was no reference to a 2P, nor a Class 56, until Palitoy announced them as part of the Mainline range. The 2P being a no brainer as it used the 4F tender drive but otherwise have always wondered if the end date in the agreement with Kader was approaching and Palitoy were trying out another option. Of course, General Mills pulled the plug on Palitoy so anything is conjecture.
  15. Those DCC Concepts fine wire strippers are in a set of tools Rails are selling for £59.95 today which may or may not be an attractive way of getting a tool which is otherwise £14.95 https://railsofsheffield.com/products/dcc-concepts-ultimate-model-railway-essentials-pack
  16. I'm assuming the framing limits the bogie swing so that anything less than 9 inch radius is a no go?
  17. Sams Trains has a review of it on Youtube The decoder socket is on the of loose wiring atop the motor so a direct fit 6 pin ought to fit. Alternatively it looks like yet another Hornby model where a hard wired decoder could actually result in a far neater wiring ararngement.
  18. Use the contact form at the foot of https://Bachmann-spares.co.uk/page/customer-support They may have such despite not listing it on the spares pages
  19. Originally done as Mainline 37165 in 1979. That does look like it was a Dapol production as the brake blocks are in line with the wheels. No alwatys that easy to tell as Dapol simply repackaged a lot of unsold Mainline models as their own.
  20. I use an oval of Kato Unitrak to run in which is better lasting for dismantling etc over time. Run in 1/4 of the time in one direction, reversed for another 1/4, then turn round and repeat.
  21. Would be nice to see a photo with just the lamp irons to see how much of a mess they look plugged into the lamp holes or have they actually designed a lamp iron width connection?
  22. Just to expand on that you do need modify the Accurscale couplings with a loop added to them in place of the NEM fitment - there is a posting somewhere on it
  23. Rapidos Lion has an Hornby equivalent chain coupling pin so Accurscales chain couplings should work
